What sort of weight can be achieved with your evo still being an evo ? I have thought about making my car lighter but I wouldn't be going as far as a space frame etc just full caged and striped out ?
keeping it road legal or just an out right racer ,makes a huge differance,id have said you could lose 100kg by losing the road legal bits

My 8 currently weighs in at 1066 Kg's, wet.
A lot of thought and work went into it as it's still full chassis.

Cheers,

Andy
Nice :smthumbup

Hey ....

iam puting my evo on a diet ive lost over 200 kg so far
i have aways found that you cannot beat power to weight ratio;)

so whats your cars weight?? whats the lightest evo 5 out there??
Guess you pretty skinny now then, I'm supprised you can even sit upright in a chair and type after loosing 205 kg  sure must have been a fat lump before you started

I expect my old bucket to be approx 1090 wet

Did you see my post? 850kg E6!!
Nice one .... Karl spreads the word again.

I've seen it before but only in the initial stages. Bleeding amazing

CheeRS .... Del

Well sometimes cool projects slip the net as is were and don't get the attention/ recognition they deserve. Nicolam's car deffo deserved a mention and a bump IMO :smthumbup

becarefull with addinbg carbon fiber ,some stuff may seem light but when its built up to be able to be fitted to your car it can weigh the same if not more ,i know my carbon bonnet is REALLY light but is not ÂŁ600 lighter than a standard one ,things like a roof MAY be but add in the bonding agent and rivets plus paint and fuller to make it mint and i be its not that much in it

NOTHINGS lighter than CARBON ,i mean nothing, zero ,not there, missing
i know what you mean i brought a carbon bonnet for my 9 and it weighed more than the std one:smthumbdo

i cant remember exact weights but when i stripped mine the sound deadening alone was about 8kgs. The driver and passenger airbag units were quite a bit too. After re hanging the standard doors ( still with motors and glass ) it made me realise how much weight there was to be saved by using the grp items!!

6years since this thread has been touched, surely there's gotta be a few more super lightweight Evos out there.
Any other "lightweights" out there care to divulge their weights?

Joe
I've not seen anyone prove their claims to be honest, but if you want to see one with some proof take a look here:

One of the aims on this project is to keep the Evo being an actual Evo rather than space framing it and still claiming it's an Evo. When I look at some extreme examples I just think they'd be better off buying a 500bhp atom and sticking a carbon evo shell over the top off it.

Mine is nowhere near yours Kenny for weight loss, but in full caged targa spec (2 seats, standard dash, standard loom) its 1146kg wet with 12ltr fuel.

Fibreglass boot, doors and front guards as well as full Racefab crossmembers have got it to there so far.. But my eye hasnt been turned to weight loss yet. I believe there to be an easy 10kg to be pulled out in the dash/interior, as well as the roof, and on my wish list is one of Madmac's CF integrated rear boot and spoiler - which would be another easy 10kg.
