Hi guys, is there anyone here running a garrett g25 or g30-660 on a 2.0L? I’m making the switch to a full frame turbo kit and I’m interested in peoples engine setups and opinions while running said turbos. some dyno graphs to compare spool would also be a big help!

Cheers
Paul.

Hi
I have a Pulsar G25 660 on my evo 8 , do some research on Pulsar turbos before you hate! I’ve used a few and have never had issues
Back to topic, I can’t complain really, comes on boost at 3k and by 3500 it’s really going for it, seems perfectly happy to keep going up top as well, currently running 1.3 bar.

I wanted good response (purely a fast road car) without struggling higher up the RPM and creating high charge temps, still have stock FMIC and here in the uk the outside air is average of 8-10 degrees c, normal for this time of year, never exceeds 30 degs even after a fairly long sprint

so far I absolutely recommend them, if you go for Garrett version then probably even better, Pulsars do tend to have a slightly bigger Exh housing but mine is fine in terms of response, i would not say it’s any slower than the stock turbo, I imagine the G25-550 would be even quicker to spool

Mate of mine has a Pulsar g25-660 on his Evo 1, stock bottom end, Kelford 272° 11mm lift cams & springs. Made 329kw (~440hp) @ hubs on 24psi on 98ron fuel

Looks a little lazy on the Dyno, but transient response is incredible (ignore the purple line, that's the old setup with different cams and e50)

Another mate has a Pulsar g25-550 on his Evo 7, stock bottom end, Kelford 272° drop in cams, stock springs. Made 277kw (~370hp) @ hubs on 21psi on e10

And for a response comparison, here's another mates Evo 7, stock bottom end, Kelford 272° 11mm lift cams & springs, Evo 6 td05hr made 252kw on 24psi on 98ron fuel

The Pulsar G25 550 and 660 are phenomenal!

I’ve used both (not on my Evo but other 2.0 16v engines) Response is crazy good, pulls all the way to the top, zero issues.
sold my 550 to a mate after it had covered 31k miles, and a year later it has an additional approx 10k, still fine, bearings good, no cracked housings
And original price only £400! My 660 is on around 12k and all good
Tell me why they are bad again??

its good that we can experiment with different sized turbos without spending 2k AND because now they have a good following and reputation they hold re sell value

My Evo 8 , forged bottom end, kelford 272s etc has a Garrett GTX3071, great turbo tbf although I’m going to see what a 25-660 goes like in this combo

just my 2 pennies worth

Hi
Not sure if anyone is actually interested in seeing some testing but ive just bought a Genuine Garrett through Sally at Owen Developments, its another G series, G25-550 with 0.72 rear housing, im trying to make my car more 'streetable' not sure if thats a good way to put it but i dont do track days so its 100% fast road duties. Not that my current setup is overly laggy but now i have a set of HKS adj pullies bought from Fraser @ WMD , ive actually bought alot of stuff from him this year, new front and rear lights, countless service items etc etc, a very honest and easy to deal with man, anyway back on topic, i will fit the pullies at the same time (i know i couldve tweaked the valve timing with current setup but i want to redo my downpipe as i want to re-fit my Air Con compressor, oil lines etc so good excuse to do a new turbo)
So vernier pullies and this new turbo should make the car a proper Torque monster! most of my favourite roads are very twisty so i need low down pull as opposed to higher up.

Once ive figured out how to do screen captures etc i will record my testing before and after and also the datalogs before/after so anyone interested can have a look.
Then it will time to add my Water/Meth kit as ive itching to do it for months, this is almost sure to help, rough pre plan is to the spray coming on at around 3700 rwvs & 0.8 bar boost and then ramp up to the top, i have a peobably too big pro alloy intercooler so im all good for charge cooling, its more the added octane i'm after, dont get me wrong, the water will definately help.

Anyway enough talking and more hands on action, if anyone is curious about anything on this project feel free to message and i'll do my best to help, i'm seeing more and more people asking for opinions on the G25-550, as we all know the Muricans dyno's like to be very 'generous' with their power readings but i was watching Adam LZ's evo & g25-550 project and the results were very good! superb response low down and better top end than his previous turbo setup plus he has fairly wild cams (i only have 272s & im looking to go back to stock) so its looking fairly promising.

Thanks
