There was a thread recently put up of a black Evo 7 with red wheels, it had a suede/alcantara dash with the seats done to match and it looked really well.

 

IMHO flocking looks cheap and nasty. If your going to do it cover it in suede or alcantara

 

Yeah I am thinking suede after looking into it a bit more. Do people cover the pillars as well or is that ott?

Some of my friends have done it in black alcantara... wondering if it is resistant with UV as we have a lot of sunshine in my region.

For reflection resistance, flocking is the easiest and cheapest option, and looks great IMO, and in keeping with the low rent Evo interior! :lol:

 

I had my dash covered in alcantara in my old 7 and I'm thinking about getting done again in my 9.

if you are going to have it flocked send it to a proper company, no battery powered machine is going to creat the static charge that flock needs as well as the proper equiptment to spray it and clues and prep

i used autoflock motorsport on my old cossie, i had everything done from dash to door cards, ad some carbon and it looked great

there is an evo also that has his dash retrimmed in alcantara and red stiching and it does look pretty amazing, but to do it right you are looking at over 400 id say, unless its just the top piece of the dash you want doing, but even then dont forget about the passenger airbag, so this needs to be taken into account that it needs to be able to split apart just incase, this is why just using alcanata and doing it yourself isnt really a good option unless you remove the airbag

and get proper stuff as a lot sold isnt uv stable so will soon fade and turn a nasty green or purple

 

Alcantara is more durable than a flocked surface, but its also a matter of the bucks you want to spend. I had the complete dash in alcantara trim in my former car and I loved it.

 

Oh wow, nice. Like I say it's more to stop the light reflecting. If I use suede or alcantara I'll do it my self just on the top of the dash. But I've just found out my local evo specialist do dash flocking for £120. I'll just have a look at the two and try and make a decision [emoji1]thanks guys

I had the dash flocked in my old 106 GTI. It did look really good but was a nightmare to keep clean and does wear over time.
Alcantara looks really nice and much more durable.
