Ralliart Lancer v's Evo X

Hi Jim -

I have a modified Ralliart that I was using as a daily for a few years (now just stored away in my Dad's garage for the foreseeable future). It was also owned by APT who did quite a bit of work to the gearbox before I bought it (and he modified it and remapped it too).

These are quite easy and relatively cheap to get to around 300/300; you can just get a remap, but it's probably better to also upgrade the fuel pump and then the FMIC, piping and BOV from a X too.

They can suffer from the same issues a X does, so you need to replace the relays, and check the timing chain for stretch. The ACD pump can often fail too.

To go much more power then you are looking at the X turbo upgrade which can take you up towards the 400 mark, but you'll also likely need a lot more spent on it on ancillaries (intake, custom exhaust, cams etc.).

The gearbox and engine are the same except for milder cams and smaller turbo.

The suspension is also different, just basic springs, so to lower you need to switch to say an eiback pro-kit or move to coilovers.

It doesn't have super-sport as standard but now you can have that flashed in at the same time as a remap. Brakes are also not Brembo's, but for 300/300 you can buy some after market replacement discs and some decent pads and they'll be fine.

Looks-wise I'd say it's not as nice as the X, but with decent wheels and some carbon accents it doesn't look too bad.

Price-wise they're pretty cheap, a nice low mileage standard one should only be ÂŁ6-7k, so a lot cheaper than the X even in this market where the X seems to be coming down a lot.

Overall I went with mine as I wanted a cheaper daily vs. a third Evo (i.e. a X).

One last thing to mention, tax is ÂŁ525 which I don't know if it is the same or not with the X. MPG is low 20's, so similar to the X I think.
