I've had some interest in my car from a chap in SWITZERLAND (not Sweden as originally posted), but he states that a certificate of conformity is required - any idea as to how I get one?

It's NOT been registered overseas before being registered here in the UK, does that make a difference at all??

Conformity to what we use these at work all day for materials to prove conformity to bs/en numbers but I don't understand what conformity he would be looking for

From my understanding ... if a vehicle has been first registered in uk then they can import it to Sweden, if it has been imported from japan to uk then not EU car .on the conformity issue just sounds like he needs to find out the paperwork its a uk car .

There is a new vehicle type approval that is being rolled out over Europe. The SVA is being replaced with the IVA (Individual Vehicle Assesment) one thing that is required is the Certificate of Conformity from the manufacturer or approved test centre (ATC). It's been a few months since I've read up on it, but it sounds like that is the route your potential buyer is going through. In essence if the car passes through the UK IVA it is entitled to be sold into any other country undertaking the scheme. I'd say VOSA or the DVLA should be able to point you in the right direction, but it may be a costly procedure for the buyer.

From what I know of the system I'm not so sure. In theory yes they should have it from when the vehicle type was initially sold in the Uk, but they may not be willing to share the CoC (I'm not sure on that) and you may have to get one yourself...which would not be cheap and could be a lengthy process.
