Hope you enjoy, the handling stands out so he said super charger as well, now that will be rapid!
got a train to catch from edinburgh to kings cross 8 am tomorrow bet i wont get a seat

yeh personally i think my evo (400bhp ish) will rape his exige on a track and road, the lotus will handle and corner quicker but the evo will more than make up for it on outright acceleration and speed.

there great cars but to me they are not the same kinda performance league as evo's, well tuned evo's anyway

Decembers Evo mag has a group test including the Exige, it was (just) slower than the Litchfield Type 25(which was faster than a Ford GT and only a second slower than a Mclaren F1). If it's only a bit slower than the T25, which is an absolute monster, then I expect it's gonna be quicker than pretty much any Evo (on a track that is)IMO.

Yeah think thats the key, anythink over 350 bhp the lotus would be struggling, not in standard trim though! im sure you will enjoy your drive back, watch out for the coppers, there f*"kin everywere!

I can only say that as someone that has raced plenty, there is a vast difference between people at the front and back of a grid in the same car. Therefore the fact that he has raced means nothing unless he was better than midfield. In caterhams there was sometimes over 3 seconds between pole and 20th. Don't worry just yet unless he used to win regularly, then worry :D.

Not sure how good he was but you do tend to look back with rose tinted glasses, (he reckons he was great!) i always tell my son i should have been a professional footballer! i know hes pushing 50 so i hope hes mellowed and lost a bit of bottle!

I assure you that a decent driver who has raced anywhere near the front is worth 2 - 3 seconds a lap of some tracks especially somewhere like Oulton Park/Donnington Park. That would be comparing them to a half descent road driver.

If your mate has a car that is similar in terms of overall lap times, but has raced at the front then you could be in trouble. Also he will be consistent over many laps. However you have the straight line speed and if you are in front it is a bugger to get past you ;) especially if your evo is one of those wide varieties

I have a 2005 Exige and with the Ohlins that we fitted it has staggering handling. However it was a little slow for my liking. So I upped the power a little, from 188.6 BHP and 134Lb-ftof torque to c300 BHP and 240lb-ft. The resuling performance is astounding. At a recent trackday with Phil Bennet in my car the only car faster on a complete lap was Phil Keen in the Mosler !

My car now runs:

Well I've been offered ÂŁ450 so I'm probably gonna accept that. Evolees will be the new owner. Nice upgrade for his Evo 4.

Which track are you going on?

I bet the exige will be on semi-slicks. Mmmm, give protyre a ring and gets some slicks on if its dry...and take another spare set of wheels with racing slicks on...

that should make up for the weight disadvantage. Tyres are sooooo important. You'll leave him for dead with slicks or wets...easily.

Listen to Aidy!

Your friend has an Exige which is an excellent track car and he's diven in F3000. Expect to be seriously embarassed.

F3000 is not exactly a junior series. People like Damon Hill and Perry McCarhty did ok in F3000 in the late 1980s. Whilst the drivers at the front of the grid in a Caterham class may be a lot better than the ones at the back, you can be sure that anyone who has raced in F3000 has done their fair share of winning in more junior categories and is going to be more than a bit handy behind the wheel.

I may be wrong, but then again, perhaps after whooping your mate on the track, you'd like to arrange a game of snooker with Jimmy White, after all he's getting on a bit, hasn't won anything for a while, and with a cue that's better than his who knows what you might do...
