Interesting this. It would mean the HKS oil filter is less of a restriction in the system.

 

Surely the most important question would be how well it actually filters though?

Is it already established that it's as good as o.e at this?

My readings were from hot idle 900rpm.

 

how many microns is this filtering to?

If that's an accurate figure, and it allows higher oil pressure, is there a reason not to use it, other than the cost of it vs o.e? Genuine question, seems too good to be true.

 

Hi guy's I just finish installing my K&N oil filter with the R-Spec sandwich adaptor plate. My Evo 4 for has a Evo 8 engine, so when i hooked up the oil pressure & temp the readings were as follow (hot Idle 900-1000 rpm):

Oil Pressure 1.1-1.2 bar at idle & 5.5-6.0 bar at around 4500 - 5000 rpm.

Oil temp is around 60 celcius & never seems to go above 90 celcius, is this normal?

 

Some more input from people using these? Are they really worth the money and is the filtering performance up to the job?

 

Surely if they are increasing the pressure they are restricting oil flow to do this ?...not that that a huge issue as long as they can still flow enough oil at high rpm, and of course filter the oil well also.

The oil filter is between the pump and the pressure sensor, so higher pressure means less restriction. On the other side, less restriction would make you think the filtering ability is also less.

ive got some of these filters on the shelf, hks hybrid part number U1516not sure if there for evo's? any ideas please?? i got them in a parts clearance deal.

If they do fit evos there going on mine. Just cant find out what they fit. Part number u1516 does anyone know the part number for evo fitment?
