Hydraulic Hand Brake and ABS

I'm needing to fit a hydraulic hand brake to my evo 5 as the last few race events I've come 2nd which both had a number of hairpin corners, and a hydraulic could have made the difference in the last event. Only thing is I'm keeping my ABS!!

As far as I can tell I have 2 options:

1: Use a twin cylinder hydraulic hand brake, or

2: Fit a 2nd set of calipers

The twin cylinder seems easiest, but I assume a 2nd set of calipers is probably a better way to go.

Has anyone had any experience doing either option? Any advice would be appreciated (except for ditching the ABS;) ).

I know of cars with ABS and a hydraulic, but I haven't seen any Evo's done. As far as I understand, as long as the hydraulic is plumbed in after the ABS pump, its not an issue. Because it has a separate line back to each rear caliper, a twin cylinder hydraulic is needed.

An extra set of calipers are going to be a pain to mount.

The OBP one is what I'd need.

I just like my ABS and quite a few people in my club still run their ABS, a number that got rid of it wish they had kept it. I'm running Brembos and XP10's all round and have under heavy braking managed to get a lock up, even with the ABS. Everyone has a different opinion and idea, and I know alot of people will say straight out to ditch the ABS, it can't be a real race car with it, but thats their opinion. I see more advantage to keep it, then remove it.

im running brembos on xp10s and have no issues what so ever locking stuff up i get an odd one from the front but thats more the car getting out of shape on entry more than anything

my hydralic hand brake works a treat tho it can be flicked around on a dime

but your right about ABS on race cars its does work VERY well

are you running a servo

Its full factory ABS, just with XP10's at the moment, so I guess thats a yes on the servo?

The ABS does work well, and it maybe me being abit lazy, but I feel I have more consistency with the ABS, one less thing to concentrate on when racing and therefore keeps my racing fun, and having fun its whats important. To lock up a wheel with my ABS means to me I'm still on the limit with braking, and ditching it isn't likely to help me stop any quicker and is more than likely going to make my times slower. The goal is to get faster! lol
