Correct Coolant?

Hi guys, coolant change next on my list for my new EVO 8.
Checked with Hydrometer ( I know there not great) and it showed good strength but can't tell what coolant is in there as there is no colour to it all.
Mitsubishi says from new the EVO 8 came with pink coloured longlife coolant, but they only supply greenish blue stuff in all there cars now.
Checked with a local motor factors who supply Comma and they came up with same thing G30 (RED) for my car.
So, just wondering what others are using & is this correct?

Cheers Steve

I went through the same research myself last winter. I ended up flushing my system through a couple of time in clean water, and filling it with Comma G48. It's a green-ish coolant, and it seems very good.[/QUOTE
Ok thanks, seems Comma coolant is most popular in motor factors. As I said it showed up on there system as the G30 (red) for my car. Is there an advantage with G48?
Thanks

That comma g48 extreme green ( blueish green looking ) has been popular with us here on mlr for years , i found the red stuff tended to cause a rusty hue ,notable when doing a coolant flush ....or maybe that was me adding water :mhihi:
The comma stuff is the way to go , unless you want luminous green hulk blood ...which i had 10 years ago and now have again , its a Renault one im using ....comes with no electrons as standard ;)

Hi, this antifeeze thing is just so not clear.

My findings are:

Every motor factors recommend Comma G30 Xtreme (Red) which is Silicate free.

People on here say don't use red stuff & use G48 (green) which contains Silicate.

Many forums state that Jap cars should avoid Silicates in ant freeze.

Drained my coolant & it was indeed a bluish greenish colour but looked quite good with only a hint of brown to it.

Because my colour wasn't red I was out off replacing with red, so went to my local Mitsi dealer to find out. It states in there books that my car 04 EVO 8 came with a long life red coolant, but they don't use it for servicing any of the cars now. There's is a blue Meg based antifreeze they use in all of the Mitsubishi cars that come in & when I was given the bottle it's made by Morris Lubricants & has a 2yr life. So not even a Mitsubishi product (unless they all were made by Morris anyway) but just a bog standard blue antfreeze.

Do not rely on colors of the coolant.

G30 is the right one... ( also called G12+ )
Lifetime is app. 3-5 Jears, the Stock Mitsubishi one ( Green in Color ) was rated 6-10 years depending different Markets in the Service manuals

The colors are different for JIS ( Japan ) coolants than our EN styles ( Europe )

G48 doesnt work well for the Evo 4g63 in Racetrack conditions, because it was designed for VW TDI engines to heat up more quickly in Winter !

Ok, so I'm in process of flushing system before changing to the G30 (red). Still has slight blue tint from what was in there.
As I said Mitsi Dealers in the UK all use Morris standard MEG Blue anti freeze (2yrs) in all their servicing from an old model to new models. Every forum you read suggests the old style Meg blue stuff is outdated by the OAT (red) stuff from around 15 yrs ago, so I don't understand why Mitsi dealers use the old stuff in everything? They don't supply their own brand anymore & the only Dia Queen stuff they do is for AYC & nothing else.
I also considered asking Honda, Toyota & Nissan what they supply, being jap cars see how they differ.
