I bought a 1994 lancer GSR 1.8 Turbo import which needed a new alternator after about two weeks. The guys in the garage I took it to did the job fine, but they ****ed up the interior electrics (no air con, no elec windows, nothing) this has also messed up the brake lights.
Can anyone tell me where i can get a wiring diagram for this car?

Plus, something that seems to be quite common, my engine idle keeps picking up and dropping in traffic. I think I've traced it to a small box with four sealed leads coming out (no idea what it is) which, when I switch on the ignition makes a whirring sound like a faulty relay/solenoid and it does it every now and then when the engine is idling. I'll hear that whirr then the engine picks up, whirr again and it drops, there is also an intermittent knocking sound that seems linked to this.:blah:
Can anyone help with that as well?

The whiring noise sounds like aircon kicking in. Knocking mught be fubared aircon clutch.

Im guessing they must be dumb assed mechanics to blow your electrics so much if the faults are related. Prob forgot to disconnect battery first and shorted something.

Check your fuses?

checked all the fuses

the revving thing started bout a week before they got their mits on it

I think the electrics is something to do with the garage guys rewiring it "properly". He said something about a red lead from the battery to the alternator, like a second live, that he removed.
(come to think of it, my mechanic prob did it on purpose. i'm 19 and my baby evo ****es over his 03 Civic Type R and holds it against his 07 Impreza WRX )

An alternator has a live feed direct from the +terminal of the battery.

Big thick wire. red usually.

take it to an evo specialist. many on here. Where you live (area)

Yeovil, somerset.

knew about the alternator to battery feed, but there was a second one for some unknown reason.
although judging by a few other things, looks like the guy i bought it from had done some dodgy diy electrics on it

The idle issue is probably the idle speed control valve - might just need a clean or replacing.

As for garages, the only people I'd use around here are Vincents (their Evo technicians are very good but it'll cost), K&R Autos in Taunton or FCM in Bristol.

Cheers,

Simon

I've worked out that the idle problem has something to do with the air-con control unit. I was sat in traffic today, got bored and started fiddling with the fan speed. With the fan turned off the idle is ok, turn the fan up one push of the button and away the engine goes.
On that basis, i'm stuck with what to do. The air-con isn't working because their is no power to the fan or the unit itself, just to the controller. That didn't work anyway, cos I can push a button and it'll do its own thing, plus the off button doesn't work at all.

Can anyone help me find a wiring/circuit diagram for the car in general though?

You can just remove the aircon unit and put an RS belt on the pully system.

RS had no aircon so belt is right size.

cheapest option.

I'd like to try to keep the air-con though. Its kinda cold at 5 in the morning.
please go away and sit down and think about what aircon does.

Then think about what a heater does.

then get a 'ping lightbulb'

the go doh.
