the front wiper works fine in both slow and fast mode, however not in intermittent mode?! (but surprisingly, sometime it works for few seconds tho'). the rear wiper used to work fine, in all 3 modes but all not functioning now even the water spray, really weird?! what could be wrong and where?! could it be loose wires, relay problems, fuses and etc. coz' i don't think the motor is dead?! need help/advice on how i should diagnose it and what need to be replaced.

btw, anyone had similiar problem before?! or is it common on EVO4 GSR only?! well, other electrical gadgets seems to work fine tho'. hope to get some feedback soon, thanks EVO buddies!!

Sk-Evo4.

have you had any thing majorly bulky in the boot recently,if you look in the boot and up under the rear parcel shelf ,you should find the motor and wiring ,check to see if non have been loosened and check the water is not all over the boot space if the pipe has come off.If you cant hear the pump cut in for the water spray ,then get it down to an Electrical car specialist to check it over ,if you havn't done so your self.
I havn't had this problem with myE4 but I'm concious of bulking out the boot.

Yep I had this problem with my E4 - if you take off the wiper switch unit from the steering column, get your soldering iron out and re solder the connections on the PCB, or at least any that look dry .
This worked for me and saved God knows what for a new switch

dave,

is it difficult to remove/detach the switch and which particular one to be exact?! do i need to remove the steering wheel coz' it has airbag (now that worries me a lot)?! do i need to cut any wire or merely a clip-on thingy?! are you saying that this problem ie. bad connectivity, could lead to both front and rear windscreen malfunctioning?! could it be the relay too?! your prompt reply is very much appreciated, thanks.

It is the wiper ie left hand switch assembly you need to remove. Undo the screws holding on the plastic cowling from underneath, pull down the steering wheel adjuster lever to enable the cowling to be manouvered off. The wiper switch is held on by a couple of screws - remove them and ease the electrical connector block off the switch. The whole assembly, complete with stalk, can be removed to the workbench and as I said check on dry joints abd re-solder. You do not have to remove the steering wheel and yes the fault will effect the front and rear wipers - the front worked fine on slow and fast but neither front nor back would work on intermittant or washers
Hope this helps

I have this exact same problem, tried taking the switch unit out, but how do you get to the circuit board? It is a sealed unit, and not something you want to start tearing apart when you're not very technical.

Can anybody help, or do I need to find a new unit?
