140mph isnt really that fast, but considering it was in a 30 zone
I was well impressed.....

I have been in the back seat of my supra, at over 160mph
on a single lane carriageway with a women driving, probably
the scariest moment of my life !

was your blade geared? Motorcycle speedos are notoriously false (good marketting) so 173 was probably 153 or 163..don't think it is possible on a standard blade.

Robert, no my blade wasnt geared, just the usual end can, dynojet
and K and amp;N.

You are of course dead right, most , if not all speedos over estimate.

Anyway, 170mph on a bike these days is nothing to show off about,
wouldnt take much tuning to get a gsxr1000 to crack 200mph !

Mmmm, I wonder if there is room in my garage......

I'm with fastchick on this speed thing. Fastest I've been was 140 in the Evo on quite a few occasions, latest one being outrunning a Beemer when the Evo was stocked completely full with tele, computer, video, weights bench and 2 people while moving house last weekend. This was, of course, on a track.....

as for top speed, I did 160-165mph on the speedo but the GPS only recorded 155mph, in a stock E6GSR I'd have needed dry weather, good wind and a down hill section to go any faster than that, with a few mods though lets see what happens

it would take a fair bit of tuning to take a gixer 1000 over 200mph...only the hard tuned busas are hitting them speeds at the moment and they are over 200bhp...a gixer would be totally un rideable
