Hi

I am making the trek to Hamburg this weekend to see Haye v Klitschko and was planning to hit the town pretty hard after seeing klitschko hit the deck. As such, I was hoping that at least someone on the MLR has been to Hamburg before and could maybe gimme some recommendations for good places to go and get tanked in.

I understand there is a red light district area called the Reeperbahn, and I will of course be checking that out, but i don't much fancy serious drinking in a lap dancing bar - that could be dangerous...

Maybe I have the wrong impression of Germany, but essentially I'm looking for good honest boozers, where buxom wenches serve an array of German beers in massive glasses and everyone eats oversized snacks, whilst an old man in shorts plays a squeeze-box.

But do these places even exist? If not then where might be a good bet instead? I should make it clear that I'm not a fan of expensive ****tail bars though. IMO there's nothing worse than being stuck behind someone ordering a ****tail... watching the bar tender mash up mint leaves and zesting a lime for 10 mins is not my idea of fun!

I'm also an old skool raver (with a particular emphasis on old...), so if anyone has been to any clubs that serve up jungle, dnb or techno (but it needs to be filthy - i.e. nothing you need a handbag to dance to...), then I would be very keen to hear.

Nice one :smthumbup

Oh, and as a final thought - does anyone have any predictions for the fight? I've spoken to a lot of people so far and nobody seems to have a clue. On paper you'd probably favour Wlad but if Haye can utilise his speed effectively (like he kind of did against Valeuv, although clearly this will be a much bigger challenge...) then it could easily go the other way I reckon.

There is a good club playing Tekno and Drums&Bass near de PoopenStrasse I think you will like zis one. I think DJ Organ Donor and MC Face Melter may be playing on Saturday.

Have fun,

I haven't looked forward to a fight this much since Hatton Mayweather - and there was no way I was gonna fork out to go to Vegas. I haven't heard much from this thread but what I've been hearing elsewhere is that Hamburg has a great night-life, so I think we're in for a great weekend

Yeah I got a bit carried away with talking to myself there, which isn't cool... I'm clearly not busy enough at work!

Anyway, you say you're going to a beer festival in Hamburg this weekend? Whereabouts? I love beer and I love festivals, so a beer festival sounds like the greatest party ever! :D

Roll on saturday!

One other question I had which maybe you can help with - do you know if they will sell booze at the event? The last boxing match I saw live was Naz (a good 10 years ago now, at least...) and I wa sure you could then but wondered if they changed the rules since? I hope not!
