Hi there, I had the same thing, I went a bit further than £4k and had a forged rebuild ect.
Depends what your engine is like for stage of mods.
Mine had covered 75k miles and I wanted around 380bhp.
I was told that I could have the work done but the engine was past what the tuners considered to be up to the job.
It was down to me.

You have to consider how much you'll get for a high milage E4 and what will the TME/E6 condition be like ?

Do you realy want to change the car for something newer, or do you just want more performance from what you've got ?

For £4k you should be able to get to 380+ bhp depending on who does the engine work.

Unless you get a modified E6/6.5, you will not gain much from selling your E4 and buying an E6 in terms of performance.
They both have AROUND 280 bhp as standard, I say around 280 because i'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong and give you exact outputs.

thats what i'm thinking, my 4 has decat, hks system, hks ssbov and apexi induction kit, mileage is 57k want something that will give me around a 12.5 s quarter can anyone comment on what power would be needed for this

When I ran my car at Santa pod with RC stage 2 + standard clutch could only get down to a 13.505 1/4.
Mind you I was conserving the clutch for the drive home and I think that I may have got a few tenths off that if i'd given it large.
6k rpm or so !

Will give it another run in August ..run what you brung ultimate street Car meet.
Now have rebuild and exedy clutch.

lol my kind of guy who loves torque :D

induction 120 or over
fuel pump 100
exhaust system from 250 onwards
decat 50 to 70 quid
a sard fuel reg 110 or over
a mappable ecu my friend from 650 onwards powerfc, autronics gems motec mapping 250 to 350 quid
then after labour if u have some change

get some nice cams full kit and also u need a good clutch

and yours being an evo 4 will be well stupid to go over 350 bhp on standard rods and pistons

so over 4k probably

but u can get a good decent mod for under 2k mate

ecutek ecu from sam
induction, exhaust sytem, fuel pump and decat

Phone [email protected] 01260 291191 in Congleton so he is not too far from you and get his Stage 2 tuning which is Autronics, fuel pump, Sard fuel pressure reg, etc for roughly £1700 + vat fitted and mapped which should see you near the 350 - 370bhp mark. :)

he has a 4 bros he def cant run over 1.5 bar he will melt the pistons

they dont last long mine was mapped to 1.6 bar with autronics by my choice, i was told from mark dont risk it, well did i listen at the end melted pistons and snapped rods bud

if he wants to go big bhp he def needs to change his pistons and rods and a head gasket is an extra on top
and also it will be clever to get a good clutch first

u will burn a clutch big time in a launch if u thinking of going for massive power

i suggest breathe in and out and relax and take it as it comes

slowly without financial difficulty

He should still make decent figures at 1.5bar though, should he not mate, I only ran 1.6bar and made 370bhp. I'm sure that Gaz will map it safely for the E4. :)

should make up to 350 anyway if he doesnt want more :D

and overall running that boost on an evo 4 wont last long anyway their the weakest pistons and rods from all the evo's

but he dont need a mappable ecu if he doesnt want to go over 350 bhp

go see gaz and get a newer engine (swap) as they are stronger and get him to stick in an aurtonics ecu and accessories.

whhhhooooooo hhooooooooo you'll looove it.

hello there i have just been reading this thread and i am in the middle of doing a full engine rebuild myself, i have just spent 4000 pound on the engine alone before anything else.
this is what i got for my money:
pistons
rod,
full engine gasket set,
head gasket,
balance shaft removed,
cams and pulleys,
springs,
valves,
arp bottom and head bolts,
exhaust manifold.

this should see me around 550 bhp( i hope :D )

still need to buy so much and the bank balance is going down.lol.

Maybe I am wrong, but I wouldn't have thought

Sale of your EVO4 + £4k will not buy a good TME

It would buy a mint 5 or cheap/average 6. I would have thought you would need to add another 1 or 2 thou to buy a TME

You have a very nice 4 there Graham. If I was you I would speak to [email protected] first and then decide if it's mods or tme.

At the end of the day it is you that is going to be driving it.

to do 550 bhp easily a gt3240

best turbo i ever had, better with a 2.2 stroker never used it on the road but hey spool up on the dyno was extreme and the best ever :D so quick even my mapper mark and tuner simon were shocked that was on a 2.3 caused alot of back pressure coz of the stroker, couldnt get a bigger housing

go for that u will luv it :D i sold mines to keith
