Having the following mods fitted to my car soon and will need to get some form of boost controller. I'd thought about a simple Dawes device but feel that if I'm spending a fair bit of cash on mods then I'd be aswell spending another couple of hundred quid on an electronic boost controller.

Don't want anything too expensive or too difficult to set up and use.

Any suggestions???

Mods are

Blitz Nur spec
Decat
Magnex downpipe
Apexi power intake
Ralliart ECU
Walbro fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Forge dump valve (recirc)

I looked into this not too long ago.

AVC-R seemed to have the highest regard. I had the warnings of setting it up but was advised its nothing impossible.

an hours labour at your local specialist should sort it out. :)

Thinking about the Apexi AVC-R in the group buys but have read a few threads where people are saying that they are hard to set up.

Still unsure what to go for
If you go for an AVC-R I'd be happy to help you set it up.

They seem complex at first glance, but they really aren't that bad.

And no, I'm not on commission for A'pexi

I've got a Blitz Dual SBC Spec-S (single solenoid) waiting to be fitted along with Ralliart ECU and Walbro fuel pump.

I got mine for £180 brand new inc delivery (PM if you want the name of the person who got this for me).

Although Blitz's website says single solenoid is only recommended to 18psi (around 1.3 bar), MCJ's monster VII 2.2 stroker (another Mark Shead special) runs 568bhp at 2.4 bar perfectly well with a single solenoid spec S!!!

dawes are [email protected] as they can stick closed after a period of in use. i had one on my monte as i didn't care if the engine got fragged. i wouldn't use one on a car i cared about.

having said that mnay do use them.

apexi avc is a bitch to fit but is really very impressive in terms of the boost control ability. the only additional feature i'd like would be different boost targets for different gears.
