Just got back from Well Lane.

Trevor thanks a lot for organising things and getting everyone together in one location.

The Rolling Road at Well lane was giving some very inconsistant results. Kevin's makinen went from 250BHP to 340BHP just by sitting a few people in it. And Ian's E6 went from 240 to 340 on the second go. OK I know that the air temp could have changed etc but not to gain 100BHP. the cars were not exactly fastened down very well and you could see that the rear wheels were lifting off the rollers. The operators came up with some very novel and strange reasons about camber being affected when more weight was added????

Anyway peak power for mine was 299BHP on the second go with 2 people in the boot (car is identical to Ian's except for the Rear box which can't be worth 40BHP). i'm happy with nearly 300BHP anyway but would have liked to see some consistancy throughout the day.

Max from RC developments had a very nice 6 that put out 370BHP, which agrees ish with other roller he's been on. I'm going to post the actual print outs when i figure out how to do it.

On a closing note I would not let well lane anywhere near my car again, and am going to try a different RR soon to set the car up on properly.

Hi all

First of all it was great to seee everybody, you always seem to have a laugh on the clubs gatherings, roll on Anglesey!http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

I was WELL DISSAPOINTED in Well Lane, I was expecting state of the art equipment and a snazzy location.

Not a dodgy 2nd hand car lot and an old shed with rollers and a commodore 64 PC in![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

The operator seemed full of **** about most things and put extra power down to artificial resistance, (if you put a 15 tonne truck on would it run 900bhp?)

In that case a skline is nearly 2 tonnes so it must have more power!

It's could be down to the 'grommet' boys!

Anyway, I saw 340bhp[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >, Leeds Utd are Crap, Ha, Ha, Ha Arsenal! 6-1 to the Red's![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Still want a VII!

ACTUALLY, mine was 341bhp. http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/tongue1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > ..... and that was with the grommet still out.

Anyway Hunty you had five people in your car, not two ..... must have added at least 50bhp ! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/tonguewink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

My printout looks just the same as Max's except the bit at the top ! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Well that was a total dissapointment boys!!! http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/sad1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

I've decided that I'm gonna make my own rolling road in my garage out of 8 empty baked bean cans, 5 bamboo cains, a speak and amp; spell , 12 toilet roll tubes and gratuitous amounts of sticky back plastic.

Then we'll organise ourselves another do and see what figures we pull this time.

Gotta be better than the setup at Well Lane Turd-o Centre!!! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

I reckon that my 106 with 38 people sat in it could hit the 300bhp mark!!![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

See ya next time,

Rick

p.s. Who else is going to Warrender to see the Evo VII, mmmmmmmmm......... everyone!!! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

I must say I to was dissapointed with the overall performance of Well Lane, how could cars be so far out on owners estimates and give different readings ? I have been to many rolling roads for 2 wheel drive cars where you have to add the weight to the driving wheels but never a 4 wheel one !!.

Anyway I hope you all enjoyed the day and if I ever say I am organising a Rolling road again - SHOT ME !!

We will be using the 2nd figures of the cars that ran twice in the MLR write up and I will be asking Zoe from the Japanese Performance Car to also use the 2nd run figures in their article.

Thanks for attending - anybody up for Doncaster Show on April 7/8 th ?? (static show - so no probs with rollers!! )

The car has loads of exciting gizmo's too. I got my 5ZIgen exhaust from MAX (Oh and also the car too !) They are the sort of guys you can trust to do an honorable job with no corners cut. Max believes in spending time getting things right and has put loads of hours in developing the right way to extract more pwr from Evo's (and Scoobs). Max and Clive try all mods out on Max's own E6 to ensure that there are no ill effects and Max drives the car on a daily basis on and off the track. I am always wary of mods to such sophisticated cars as Evo's, as there can be so many hidden problems, but as long as I know that my car isn't gonna be a guinea pig then I'm all for them.

Thanks to trevor for an over all great day, cheers to Paul Tilford for organising me a nice B and amp;B
YEP A LITTLE FAR-CYCLE.I ran my mountain bike after wards and got 110 lft torque,my boost pressure was nearly cardiac arrest.
I eventually got a 290 bhp figure from my E4 2 people in the boot.
Ian P /ran the car with the gromet back in all the way home ,to be honest, now I really don,t know if there is any diffrence in the over all performance with it removed. The over all excelleration was smoother from stand still, and mid range top end was about the same .
UMMM !!.It did show on my torque curve from the first run that my boost dropped once hitting 14 psi, then increased upwards again with gromet removed. The second run I was told the whole power curve was smoother and boost was maintained as a gradual.
The EVo is a little light at the rear end, looking at some guys tyres when at full throttle, traction seemed a big problem ,with an arch appearing with in the centre of the tyres,to see daylight!!.
Any way come the end I feel most got the figure they thought they should achieve.
Doctor I'd like a second oppinion please?

cheers

hmmmmmmm, i can see why you boyz are not tooooooo happy with those figures!

my scooby MY97 got a 230bhp (std wud b 208bhp for my year of car) i hav the Magnex Centre Pipe |PLS| B/box also a 57i K and amp;N (not sure if these this give that much gain!)

but i feel that the BHP 4 the Scooby doo's were about right, and what we expected! at least i did! http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

was your problems due to ther differance length in the Evo's from 1-6's getting the rollers set up properly?????

don't worry too much, the Evo's are an awesome looking car! and the proof is in the puddin' the car is v fast v fast! so its not as if you don't kno that your car is fast. I only hav to go out in one on track or even to see them handle out there!!!

don't get too upset [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

nice to see you all anyway

Just to add, I had a good day out !

It was my first RRD and enjoyed meeting all there. I think the overall set up could possibly have been a little better. I myself could sometimes see daylight on the back rollers when a car was strapped on, I think I expected it to have been maybe a bit more high-tech than it was.
They told me that with the grommet out my boost was not being maintained and power was tailing off at 4000rpm, but 243bhp !! http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle > I think not. If you drove the car I think you would disagree, it feels very strong and builds right up to the red line, just like my second graph shows with 2 people in the boot and the grommet still out. I think something was seriously wrong with the rollers on the first run.

Still a good day out [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Trevor, when is the mag due out with our ugly mugs in ?

After join the club RRD even, I personally think that the result of the rolling road is just for reference only at the end of the day.
There are so many factors can affect the result up and down such as wind speed, indoor temperature...and the roller...but incredibly how can two runs on the same produce such a different result?
Last year at Superchip ,I had my first run produced 245bhp ....and afternoon I had a second run with the same set up ,nothing changed...produced 300bhp...!?!?!?!? What's going on there??

Shall I believe in rolling road again? Is that for self satisfaction or self disappointment?

There is an edition of Japanese Performance out in the next couple of weeks so our 'mug shots' will be in the one after which I recon will be end of April early May.
The MLR mag will be about the same as there is an edition due out in the next week or so.

Hi peeps!
Just wanted to post on here to thank Trevor for organising the event yesterday. ( I had the silver 95 WRX, by the way) Got to say I wasn't very impressed with Well Lane though, not quite what I'd pictured! Us scoob boys managed to get fairly accurate results, I think. I got 272bhp, which, compared to previous runs I've had (Power Engineering 264bhp and amp; Powerstation 259bhp) doesn't seem miles out. Mind you, mine didn't have enough torque to climb out of the rollers, unlike the Evos!! http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
Awesome cars guys, and as for the Skyline.... mmmmm.... dribble...

Guys,

This thread is the same as a few already been posted on the RSOC about not-so-Well Lane turbo centre.

The SIDC use Power Station in Cheltenham with good results. One of the few 4wd rolling roads capable of taking 1000bhp. Proper Sun calibration the lads will show you the certificate if you want!
