Hi, a friend is looking at swapping in an EVO II or III gearbox and possibly transfer case. Can somebody please tell me what makes the EVO gearboxes better ?

So far I know that they have double cone syncros and steel shift forks. What about the width and hardening of the gears? Are there any other differences?

As for the transfer box, I'm told that it has the same internals, just the housing that's different (part steel on the EVO, fully aluminium on the VR4). Does anyone know if anything was done to the EVO transfer boxes to make the internals stronger please ?

I take it the EVO III gearbox is the better out of the I, II, III ?
