Use your EVO through the winter or not?

Just wondered how many people use their EVOs through the winter, and how many tuck them away safely until the better weather?

only summer use for mine ,winter is for tuning
Being sensible bought a cover, spent 2 days clearing the garage out, lasted 3 days back out in it, zero willpower!

well its not a bear is it :)
I drove mine through 2 winters but the salt /muck (live in the country) hasn't done it any favours at all. The underbody has suffered, most suspension bolts had seized, corrosion on the pillowball top mounts etc. Just spent a year rebuilding the car from top to bottom and fixing things as I went along

Also had to needle-gun the underside of the body and coat with a thin layer of grease to slow rust down...

Great fun in the snow but I'll not be driving her on salty roads again! 10 year old car now so I want to keep it as fresh as I can
summer use for mine also
not winter crap roads lol
mine only cost me £3k to buy so if she rots then so be it!

no seriously she's mint at the moment so want to keep her that way. she gets cleaned at every opportunity, but the slippery roads are ideal for driving the thing :) at the end of the day it's a car and i need it to get to work and back.

work would be so dull if i didn't have the drive home in the evo to look forward to!
Aaaaggghhhh...................People, please don't use your automobile in the winter................after all, they are made from sugar and will surely dissolve if the sun isn't out and the clouds are safely over another country...........

I still can't believe that people garage a modern day car in the winter...............and that's coming from someone that's had 4 Integrales that are known for hating the bad wheather. And if I managed to get through 6 winters without an Integrale dissolving into a pile of mush, I am sure that a Mitsy will cope!!

Most of our salt is washed away with the immense amount of rain we get, and lets not forget that the council is so slow, they only start gritting in the spring anyway.............

Garage's should be for two things:-

1. Repairing when broken from too much driving
2. Resting said Evo overnight ready for more driving the following day

Unles of course you have two Evos. one for best and one for daily........perfect solution!! :D

Amen! :coolsm:
I am indeed from the town of the viking however I do not follow the sport!! Where are you and what do you drive?? (Assuming it's not away in the garage for the winter, dreaming of being on the slippy wet roads)

Winter+Evo=Sideways fun!!
Not myself, just using that as a bit of code! have a look the profile ;) lovely in that blue :)

I had a dieasel to commute to work anyway, so its just a weekend car really anyway

so if its a really bad weekend (SALT) in can stay under lock and key :)
mines been garaged over the winters since ive owned it, but if i end up keeping it that will change, just keep the bike for dry weather :D

Yea same for me.

Would love to garage it in winter but can't justify a second car at the moment. Maybe for next winter ;)
mines garaged all year long......

I really should use it more this year :) | only did 2,000 last year.

Yes you should. And wheres Mrs Santa gone? I had a bit of a crush on her.
2000 miles a year! gee whiz :)

is there a reason for that? hope you didnt break your leg :D
Umm, yep, criminal I know, but mine stays in the garage in the winter... Actually, I dont think I've been out in it since September , come to think of it, this year for the first time, I've even declared it SORN through the winter.

As for battery charging, every spring for the last three years I've told myself to buy a battery conditioner at the end of summer.... right after I've just installed a new battery!

Each to their own, some people use them for everyday, some keep them for special occassions.

When I had my IV I worked for someone else, since going self employed I work from home so the car stays put unless I need to do the odd errand or two :D think it will be one of those collectors classics with no miles on :) well 23k at the mo.

and Turbo Dan just for you I changed me Avator as Christmas had been and gone....
:D

If that was my mrs

I would only do 2000 miles :D

Fair play ;)
Driven EVERY day sensiblly and stupidly

And its not gonna get a wash till March!!!

Its like buying a fridge and not using it in the summer as it may have to work a bit harder!!! WTF?????? :moon:
