I have just bought my first EVO (VI GSR - Ralliart Stage 1) and have noticed that when it drive it kinda hard the turbo exhuast outlet glows red hot... I am not sure whether it should do this so easily. I had an impreza before this and it didnt seem too. I am a bit worried. Does this happen on your motors? I am wondering whether I should get my exhaust temperature checked. Any ideas?

thanks Guys/Gals

Oh and does anyone know a good EVO specailist in the Manchester/Cheshire area!

Exhaust gas is around 900C as it passes through the manifold, and around 700C as it exits the turbo. Remember to go easy for the last 5 miles after a good run to let things cool down before you park up :D

CPP is well known and well respected in the Cheshire area, you could do a lot worse than go see [email protected] for servicing and tuning ;)

Ok I admit it ... it is after a spirited drive shall we say, but surely it shouldn't get that hot! :coolsm: ahh.

exhausts temps can go easily in excess of 950'C - enough to cause the manifold to glow red.

why do you think there is a heat shield around it?

any turbo car will do this. evo's run cooler than some as the manifold is in front of the engine and therefore gets some of the (relatively) cool air thats been through the radiator and also the turbo is water cooled.

on an engine dyno the exhaust manfold/pipe will get so hot that you can see the standing waves in the exhaust gases inside the pipe!

Lift the bonnet straight after a few laps on track and the turbo outlet is bright orange on my car - normal as far as I know...
