Hi

I'm looking to fit a GT Extension Kit, High Flow Sports Cat and Magnex Cat Back System for my E6, however finding a suitable tuner in and around the North Somerset area (Portishead to be precise) is proving difficult. Can anyone out there recommend any reputable small garages in and around the Bristol area that they have used before?

Any recommendations would be appreciated?

Daz,

There is a place in Thornbury that tunes things like novas and cavaliers etc Pro-sport or some thing.
There is also a place in Cheltenham who tune SCoobs [scoff scoff choke] they also have a very good rolling road ,I have been on their website and they actually do work for alot of scoobs .so they would be a good place to go I would of thought.
I'm based in Swindon and go to Oxford area ,but its still frustrating that the Mitsi dealers take the P!ss with over priced maintainance .£35.00 |PLS| vat is a fair price for labour from most tuners ,not £50 like the big gready franchises.
Power station has been recomended on one or 2 occasions.

Anyone heard any thing about Power Station ,in Cheltenham ?
To be honest I would of thought Bristol would have the capability to handle Evo's but no one really pushes it.
I know a great place for getting wheels referbed and colour changed .
Interpro was the company I was thinking of ,but if more bad than good news ,well tells its own story.
Personally it would be cheaper to hire a 8 car transported and take all our cars to Steve hill or MA developments in one hit .This way at least we'd all know the car is being looked after and wouldn't have to spend a day travelling.

It's time I moved back home (Bristol) from abroad and set up an evo tuning garage.

1 evo per 186,000 person capita.that makes 8 Evo's in Bristol .jees theres 200 of them in Reading already !

The guy I bought my 4 off of said he had work done by M A Develepments. He said he was good, I plan on having some work done there in the near future. I live in Bristol aswell and it is a bit of a slog up to M A Developments, but if you want the job done properly what can you do? Can't wait till a competent Evo tuner materializes in Bristol.

Finding a reputable 'Evo/Lancer' tuner in and around the Bristol area is proving to be a fruitless task. Mark at MA Developments would be the obvious choice as I've heard many good things about his work, however he's pretty tied up at the mo so I've decided to go to Co-ordsport instead. Yes I know, I'm throwing good money to waste (£48 labour per hour)... they told me it shouldn't take longer than 2 hours! Because Co-ordsport don't stock Magnex, I've opted for the HKS Hiper Muffler instead. Although the parts are probably a lot pricer (£427 plus VAT for the Hiper Muffler) when compared to other companies, at least the car should be in good hands. Hopefully it shouldn't take longer than an hour to get to Dudley.

I’m a bit late in on this topic, but I also live in Bristol (Emersons Green) and have yet to find anyone to do any specialist work on my car locally.

Bought my car from STI Imports who operate out of the same premises as Interpro. Dave Morgan of STI a decent chap, but from my limited dealings with Interpro - not impressed.

For example, last winter I knackered the front o/s wheel bearing. Interpro quoted £350.00 plus VAT plus fitting to remedy.

Bought the part from Mitsubishi dealer on Feeder Road for about £115.00 inclusive and had it fitted by a local garage.

Taking the rise or what?

Personally I have opted for Power Engineering to carry out the servicing and upgrading of my car.

Very pleased with the results and worth the trip to London.

A lot of work can be completed in the same day, thus making the logistics of getting there and back more manageable.

Gung-Ho, two hours to fit an exhaust?!?! That's a complete and utter písstake!! Just get the exhaust you want, find a place that can lift your car and do it yourself. All you need is the right tools and some sealant if necessary. It won't take longer than an hour I guarantee you. even kwikfit will be able to do that, just check that they lift the car in the right places unless it's a model where you drive on.

depends on fit. in my youth I remember struggling all day with a peco system for my manta. In the end i had to take it to an exhaust place as it kept knocking and they had to bend part of the pipe. You'll probably say it serves me right for getting a chepo system - and you'd be right.

When I wanted my full Magnex exhaust fitted Alan at Dragon quoted me 1 hour at 35 quid/hr

I then called PE and they said it would take 3 hours and their Lancer hourly rate was 55 quid.

so thats 165 quid versus 35 quid.........

what a complete and utter joke, there can be no argument here as there is only one way of fitting an exhaust and nothing clever or technical to make these two qoutes so wildly different.

Naturally, thats the last time I ever call PE or even utter their name in public.

PE, aren't they a grrreeaat outfit... Mind you, with the workmanship they displayed on my car I wouldn't be surprised if it took them three hours. eehhhmm, which way round did it go in again.....

its not too far ,they will fit anything you wish and charge 35£ |PLS| vat per hour .they run a rally team and service and help out on others .NO cocking around fair pricing ,honest and very good .
