As insurance time is arriving soon, with nearly all companies wishing a tracking device fitted, although this year I didn't, I was wondering who has experienced actually having to use these services? How quickly was the car found? How did the tracking company handle the whole affair, from stolen to returned home?

I had tracker 24hour fitted to my Impreza, which seemed a lot of money for a bit of paper for the insurance. With all devices...tracker..trackstar..etc being around the same price, give or take a few quid, who is actually the best??

Thanks...John

Anyone have NavTrak fitted? This seems to be the cheapest option, fitted for under £250 with NavTrak still owning the unit with a rental of £10/month. Costing over two years, it's cheaper than Tracker, with Thatcham approval.

How good are they though? Is it better to pay extra for Tracker??

For what its worth, I went for eGuard twice. They have been very effective in tracking my GSR down for me when I had an accident in it a while back now. They kept calling me coz it kept getting triggered off. They always knew where it was and how fast it was going etc.

End of the day, if someone wants your car bad enough, they'll take it. You can only do your bit for the insurers.

The second one is particularly interesting – bear in mind that ‘Stuart H’ is actually an officer of the law.

You might also want to check out the archives of the 'yahoogroups' list - from memory, its pretty much been done to death there as well.

BTW – you never did expand on your falling oot with a NE dealer.
