Hello enthusiasts. First post here and after some expertise off you guys.

Bought a TME back in 2012 but it's been sat in the front lot of MK Autos and Tuning, Blackburn since 2014 as needs some fabrication doing to the underside. Not had much chance past few years to get it sorted as I'm in the army and with tours, children and posting not had the time.

Anyway, from pictures taken when it was on stilts you can see there is some rust to the underside around where the axel sits.

Martin reckoned the solution would be to try and find a shell and use it to cuts parts off and weld them to the current chassis.
If I'm correct I'd be looking for either a Evo 5, 6 or 6 TME chassis (CP9A-SNGF).

But what is your guys' opinion? Finding a shell can be difficult enough but hoping to find someone breaking a good quality one without the same issues might be asking for too much? Is there anyway from what you can see in the pictures someone who's handy at welding can square it away?

evo's all rust in the same places, so any shell from a broken car is probably going to suffer similar rust issues, if the shell isn't rusty, it will probably be expensive, as there is demand for decent shells to re-shell rotten cars. Think its Ross sport on here advertise they can get panels, Im sure other traders can too

At least its a red TME, so there is plenty of value in the car to justify the work

Am I right in thinking then that just needing a few panels fabricating is a much smaller, quicker (and cheaper) job than I originally planned for?

Is it also a job than anyone could do or is Rosssport the only guys for the job? The reason I ask is due to the car currently being in Blackburn, Rosssport in Cambridgeshire and me at my house, approx 560mile trip.
Would Martin at his garage be able to crack on with the work?

Cheers

its always hard to say, once you start digging underneath, you will find more rot you didnt know about

If I were you, I'd speak to [email protected] and take his advice. He's in Congleton, Cheshire (link below). I meant more Ross Sport supply a lot of :mitsi: original parts and panels, but pretty sure other traders have access to this too, including CPP

This being a red TME, my opinion is you either do the bare minimum to get through MOT's and have a red TME that isnt worth a lot, or do the job properly, and end up with a well sorted high value TME. If you sort it, photo document the full resto to support the work thats been done
