I live in Malaysia with hot weather all year round. We have been having drastically short life span of timing belt overhere for our Evos/4G63 engines. The mechanics here recommended timing belt change as early as 30,000KM! instead of the factory recommended interval of 80,000KM. My question is could the early timing belt change be due to the hot weather here. Is there no timing belt that has been made to withstand the condition anywhere or peculiar to anywhere in the world? Do the racers in their Mitsubishis change their timing belt after every race, expecially races in the deserts in Africa?
