Hi all

Is this kit good quality? Seen a few guys in the states fitting a new crank pulley and pick up plate whilst doing their TB.

Complete timing rebuild set including all parts in the pictures.It fits EVO 8 and 9 only! Timing belt tensioner. Genuine Mitsubishi balance shaft belt. CONTITECH timing belt (NOT POWERGRIP! ). Balancer shaft sprocket.

Looked on RossSport and see no such kit that includes everything, their water pump and tensioner looks aftermarket.

There’s no need to replace the huge list of parts in that eBay kit (and as the pictures and advert show- they aren’t all genuine parts!). Absolutely no need to replace crank and balancer sprockets or the trigger plate. Belts and tensioner pulleys are all that’s usually necessary tbh.

Have fitted hundreds of kits supplied through Ross over the years and never had any issues as everything is as near OEM quality as possible.

Thanks mate, is it necessary to change the hydraulic tensioner? Engine has done 5k since being built so i assume it was renewed at the time

They rarely fail TBH. If it’s not visibly leaking and gone soft, then it’ll be fine- only replaced a couple over the course of 12 years.

Ideal, what brand of water pump would you recommend?

Never had an issue with the OE-equivalent pumps from RossSport, and they’re a fraction of the cost of genuine. Seems a bit odd to replace it at 5k miles though, unless it’s leaking?

No leaks just want to change the belt due to its age

The Gates kit comes with both belts and pulleys.

You might wanna look at the auxiliary pulleys too, often these get left, sometimes you find they're what it left the factory with.
