Just checked the oil in the car, and yes you've guessed it - ITS DRY!! - NO OIL REGISTERING ON THE DIPSTICK!!

Along with the Marble sounding noice from the rocker cover...does this mean the engine, which has now done 7000 miles since new.

Has the engine had it??

I have put oil back in, and the noise is still there.

Would anyone like to have a guess as to what might have happened?

Bizz, looks like oil starvation in the bottom end, I will have to check the oil levels at least once a week, I will be monitoring the levels just in case of any more suprises!

Tony, cheers

Now you have the right result, I would add that I am confused as to why it is a grey area. With the milage you had done, if the oil consumption was that high then it would be a warranty claim anyway. If there was oil starvation and you got no oil light, yet again this should be covered by warranty. As it appears that you had checked the oil at least once since the last service and that no oil light came on, I believe that you had a just warranty claim. And, from what you have posted, so did Warrender and RC. It is good to see that you have been correctly looked after and this supports the reputations of the companies involved. Good job all round.
Hope you get your car back soon and that I see it, complete with new wheels, looking the business, in the usual carpark soon.

glad to hear the you got your problem sorted and you will get your 7 back even better than it was :)

maybe an oil pressure gauge will be in ordered so instead of you checking the oil pressure every week you check them every time you drive the car with out lifting the bonnet :)

Warrenders save the day again, there warranty is starting to look better than ccc/ralliarts.

Top job

I thought that the problems with the CCC/Ralliart warranty related to the brakes and whether youcould modify the car. Have there been cases of CCC not paying out on other claims?

I ask the above only out of curiosity. Cars bought from Ralliart now have their own 3 year warranty which has nothing to do with CCC and to date, I have heard of no problems with them over these warranties.

Nice one. Now I understand why Barry is so keen on these guys (and maybe the power of this forum helped??) - The proof is ALWAYS in the pudding.
Would still like to know why it used all that oil in such a short space of time though (for all us fellow E7 owners!!)
G
good point, would they have been so caring if the whole of the lancer world didn't know about your problems?
G
Ant,

Glad to hear that your problems are being resolved with minimum fuss and hassle and that the warranty is being honoured, good news indeed.
I would also like to add that I have always found Clive and Jenny at RC most helpful and reliable whatever the enquiry.
The same goes for Phil at Co-ordsport BTW.
G
Joey , I must agree without the power of this board, things could have been different, but also its the exclusivebility of owning an EVO, I could not image anyone would care if I had a subaru and the same thing happened.

Long live the MLR, What people say on this board makes a difference, and cuts out all the rogue traders (look at J******* T*****, who would go there now!)
G
Ant,
glad to hear you get everything resolved! i knw u hav had alot of hassle since u got the car so i hope wen u get it back its sorted once and for all. gud luck]

AntsEvo,

Good to see that everything is sorted. The 380 is an awesome machine.

I know that the end result is what it counts but I can not help it and I have to ask you
this question. Do you know if Warrender/RC will still accept the warranty claim if you will not
go for the 380 conversion ? I know this is not the issue anymore but I would love to know if that
would still be thecase under different circumstances (I have nothing to suggest otherwise).

Congratulations on your mod.

Best of luck in the future.

Simon (7Extreme) - Don't know about the full warranty situation with regards to Warrender or Ralliart - As as far as I know I am the only person it has happened to, would be intersting to see what Ralliart do in the same circumstances, and yes hopefully you should see the car in the car park again, soon, incidently the wheels should be arriving by around February 4th.

Sam Elassar, oil pressure guage may well be a good idea, but would have to think of a good place to install it, I don't fancy the A pillar too much! - How about someone build a little electronic oil level sensor - must be easy to do!

Silver7 - You have a point there, might put Ralliart out of business! - mind you with the price of their exclusive parts - maybe not

SuplerL - Oil consumption, could just be a quirk with the Evo7 - although as far as I am aware Simon7Extreme's Evo has not lost any oil yet, so I suppose its just a matter of monitoring carefully and see what happens. A lot of people are keen on RC, not just because of the way they have treated me, but their customer service is rather special (funny that I never have the time at work to do things like that - may review that soon!)

CliveW - totally agree, nothing more to add there

ManicStreetEvo - Fingers Crossed!

Alex - Good question - unless I phone them and cancell the conversion - I may never know - but I'm sure they still would - or most of it.

For what it is worth, my car's oil consumption varies depending on the type of driving I am doing. In the early days of ownership I was doing a lot of long journeys and the consumption was negligable. Then there was a period when it was all short journeys and cold starts. The oil consumption went up noticably. Have been doing long journeys again recently and the oil consumption has been low.

I believe the reason for this is the forged pistons. With these pistons they burn oil when cold due but when warm thery expand and they stop burning the oil. I wouldn't believe that it could make as much difference as it does if I didn't see it myself. Following Anthony's problems I am checking the oil more often than I have in any car before, except for an old Cavalier that ran on 3 cylinders due to a burnt out valve. With that car I knew that evry time I filled up with petrol, I needed to add 2 litres of oil to the engine.

car never used any oil but i have only done 1200miles since the first service?

sam
G
Sam, as you've only 1200 miles I suppose that you would not notice, I have now done over 7500 miles (must stop driving!) - so that is where the difference may be, between my last service the car had covered just over 4000 miles, its within the specs of the service criteria, but all that oil must have gone somewhere, I cannot believe that it burn't that much!

As many are now suggesting with the EVO 7, as soon as I get it back I will fit an oil guage (following your instruction on another thread).

Is there still no oil level monitor that can be bought?
G
anthony
the gauges are fitted behind of the steering wheel, infront of the dash. the same place that Rich R fitted his boost gauge, but i have got one in either side. the look ok and they don't block any of the instruments at all and they are in you line of vision when driving. ideally i would like a pod that can take 3 gauges as my next one should be a EGT when i eventually change the ECU. i am waiting for ralliart to come up with a pod which i am sure some one will at some point.

as for a oil level gauge, evo boy mentioned that some cars have them as standard so if we know model and make i can get it and try to fit some how. ?
G
Sam, Renault 19 16v has a oil level guage

I will scout around the web to see any other that could be adapted.
G
Actually Sam, just done a search on Euro Car Parts (eurocarparts.com) - put in oil level guage and loads cam up - so will need to investigate which one can be adapted
G
all i got are dipsticks on that website ;)
