AntsEvo,

If Big ends are going (as they said) how did they explained the oil leak and the
smoke ? Although I don't want to bring you any more bad news the extend of the
damage to the engine(and/or Turbo) maybe more than the Big end bearings (Piston rings/cylinders ...).

Whatever the case it should be a genuine claim under the warranty.

All the best my friend.

Cheers Alex

And I was having such a nice day!!

I suppose nothing will be known until the engine is stripped down, the cause is still unknown, Ralliart have aparently said that they are not aware of a fault like this on the E7's...yet. - although would they admit it? (now whats that Arnie filmed called?)

Can't say too much until the fault/damage have been investigated.

AntsEvo,

It definetely looks like an oil starvation problem (why they will probably find out).
Just make sure that they don't hold you responsible for that ! (even if that is the case
there are always ways to defend yourself)

Please keep us posted if you can.

Regards,

Alex.

Checked the oil level on my 7 the other week and it was barely registering on the dipstick it took nearly 2 litres to top it back up,also phoned a mate of mine who has a 7 and his was the same ,both cars have done about 3k miles since their last service. If i remember rightly my previous 6 did not use up hardly if any oil between services.Maybe 7 owners should keep an extra vigilant eye on there oil level as it maybe a charecteristic of the engine.

Has he found a fault with the 7??

I have a 60000 mile evo4 and the oil never moves from service to service!

Ants,keep us posted.

Jeremy,

The car was only picked up this morning, from Putney in London, so they are due to get it last thing today, so I won't really know anything until Friday at the earliest, but remember they will have to take the engine apart to discover the full extent of the damage and their diagnosis of the cause of the problem.

But as soon as I know, hopefully I'll let everyone know. I think that is is important to know whether this could be a general fault for the 7's or whether mine is a one off etc....

Sorry to read about your problems. What mods have you got? AVC-R and S-AFC and Walbro fuel pump and FSE pressure regulator? Also manifold and cams? ARP Con Rod bolts?

Sounds from the oil consumption that they abused your lack of car knowledge to sell you a PORSCHE!! LOL ;) Just kidding, tell me what mods you've got. :)

Ants,

As previous people have said the big end problem is a symptom of the low oil level not the cause. If the big ends are gone then the engine is likely to be knackered i.e cam shaft bearings, lobes followers, valve stems etc worn, rings/bores worn etc. Turbo centre bearings maybe as well.

I am telling you this not to #### you off but so that you can make sure that you end up with a decent engine at the end of it not one that they have cobbled together out of the bits they can salvage.

Jeremy,

No news, word is that they were examining the car over the weekend, apparently I should here something today.

Don't talk to me about another car, currenly driving a WV Polo 1.0L !! It has a rev counter in it which is even more annoying, I have never seen the revs climb so SLOWLY upto 6000 revs!! Would have had a nice SAAB convertable, but I have recently employed a new ofiice manager, so thats stuffed that idea!!

LATEST UPDATE!

Compression test has been completed, and there appears to be no problem also the valves appear to be ok, the true cause is still unknown, tests were being done without the bottom end taken apart so that the car could be tested still running. The next step is going to be removing the sump, then that will decide how much of the engine will need to be pulled apart and what has been damaged.

There are now a few stories developing of members with EVO 7's loosing oil, I would be intersted in any EVO 7 owners who have had this problem, and what sort of EVO 7 they have, just in case there is a general fault, as the problems with my car could quite easily be down to oil starvation.
