Cheers Mouton and amp; Ryan - fingers crossed.

Evoboy, was thick white, thats why I just thought it was the cold air reating with exhaust heat (must admid though I was a tremendous amount, and times in with the other problems rather well) - would test it, but I dare not drive the car at the moment, but I do remember checking out the back of the car down the A3 and I could not notice any smoke, one other thing that I remember (all seems to be coming back to me now!) - was along with the white smoke was an awful smell, like some old bangers oil smoke, but I thought it was just that, as it was in a car park at the time.

Do u have any oil in the coolant or vice versa , a head gasket is another suspect , but thick white smoke combined with the smell u describe is not good news. Head gasket isn't drastic tho.

Ant,

Whatever has caused the problem is really incidental. Just don't let 'em try to shirk their warranty responsibilities.

Even if you haven't checked the oil for three weeks, a 7 month old car shouldn't run dry of oil without a major problem! Just tell 'em you check the oil twice a week, that's more than reasonable!

Good luck. Let us know how you get on. :(

my car fills the atmosphere with white smoke this time of year,so thats nothing to go by.
as long as there is not a hole in the block, its relatively easy and quick to sort and rebuild

Slight alteration to post needed

[Duncan, last time I checked the oil was about a week ago, needed a lot of oil to bring it up to the right level, just noticed an oil patch on the driveway]

What I meant was that I checked the oil about a week ago and it was OK, it was on Saturday that it needed a lot of oil (3.5 litres) to bring it upto the right level.

It sounded as though it had lost a lot of oil a week ago, which was not the case, this was all sudden and very recent.

Anyway, RAC are due here in about a hour to take the car to the Ralliart Dealer in Putney, will find out tommorow what the problem is.

At the very least the engine will have to be stripped and inspected. It is possible to run an engine with no oil and it not to suffer damage, however I think its unlikely on an evo as its a hard working engine. Turbo bearings could also be knackered.

It sounds from the car park oily smelling smoke problem that you have a major oil leak into 1 of the pots. This is most noticable on a cold engine - you may not notice when engine is hot. for example a mate of mine had a metro that got through 4 litres of oil in 100 miles. However you could not smell the oil on tick over, nor was there any visible evidence when he drove it.

All you can do is leave the problem to your dealer to sort out, hopefully under warranty.

Good luck and I'm sure that all of our thoughts are with you.

Lee, I'd love to know!!

Spoke to them last night and told me they could not see a problem when they started it up, but that was only to move the car, after explanation they said they will look into it more deeply today.

Last spoke to them at 2.30pm the manager is dealing with it and is speaking to the technicans and will call me back, haven't heard a dicky bird since....must be a long chat!!

I will give more specifics and other things that were mentioned, they have been speaking closely to Ralliart in Dudley about the car, I have to make a few calls first.

Slight Correction...

Have been told that the Big Ends are going, there is slack on the bearings.

Mitsibushi in Putney are not charging for the diagnosis work, Warrenders are arranging for the car to be picked up on Thursday and taken to RC Developments. Excellent service (so far).

Car will have to be examined to see where the problem has come from.

This could be very interesting..................

One good thing that should come uot of it is while the engine is apart I can have some extra internal mods done.
