Guys,
Have already decided on an APS 3" system, but am not sure that just going for an APS induction kit is the best option.

Let me explain,

Extreme fitted an APS exhaust & found a good return (of 33 BHP on an EVO 8 MR), but on then fitting the APS cold air induction kit, only another 5 BHP was released!

I would expect this kind of gain from a say a HKS 'mushroom' filter swap, but this would cost half as much.

Has anyone got any opinion on what is the best in terms of BHP gain & cost (within reason)?

Thanks for the help :)

PHK.

To me it's the over all picture mate, don't add the BHP gains up the Max'P way. ;)

The APS system delivers good results, then what ever filter you buy should help but to get a specific answer, you would have to test each back to back.

Many don't like the filtration abilities of the HKS and prefer others, such as the Apexi etc.

And many people have found that they have gained nothing with an upgraded induction kit and have returned to stock! 33 + 5 Bhp seems pretty good to me.
Happy to be proved wrong of course as I am thinking of going the APS route.

In order to get the most 'bang for your buck' out of a performance package on your car you really should be looking at remapping the ecu to suit the changes. We distribute the APS products because they are the only tuning parts designed to work as a complete package to deliver decent bhp.

The induction kit will only release 5-8 bhp on a standard evo because it changes the standard ecu cannot adjust the fuelling fast enough to compensate for the increased air delivery.

You're lucky, if you fit an APS exhaust or an induction system to a wrx - it will explode. This is NOT an exageration. As the boost curev and fuelling changes so much the ecu must be remapped immediately.

We see a + 70bhp improvement on an EVO 8 260, and a + 60bhp improvement on an EVO 7/8 FQ300 with APS 3" exhaust, APS filter and remap. However, the biggest difference is that you don't have to change these parts until you want to push over 500bhp.

Sorry, I don't have enough time to go through all the details here, give me a call and I'll talk you through it.
