Gonna strip down my front shocks over the weekend .
I've done it in the past and greased up the inserts before rebuilding .

My question is should i regrease or use oil ?

A freind has said pour oil down the shocker tubes before inserting the shocks .

Anybody else got views on this?

All BMW's I did in the past indeed needed bit of engine oil in the tubes..

Don't know what the Mitsi manual says? If you are a member you can download them for free...

Cheers,

he probably said put oil in to stop the rust and absorbs any knocking or noises from the insert if it flexes, dont think the evo strut can be taken apart, unlike other cars and older cars can be stripped re sealed an proper quantity of oil filled when assembling, grease the spring face and bearing when assembling
just seen a picture of the legs looks like they can be stripped you need to find the quantity of oil needed if the insert is not sealed as some are sealed and you can strip them down any further

if you measure the diameter of the tube and measure the insert body get a round plastic spacer machined up this will stop any movment :D

Oil would be a better option in my opinion as grease can solidify over time and cause problems later on
