I have just bought a secondhand engine to fit as a winter project (not for the Evo). It was not my plan to buy one so far in advance, but a bargain came up, so now I have an engine I need to store for 6-9 months.

So the question is, what precautions should I take to minimise the impact of the engine sitting around doing nothing for this time? I have currently just taped-up all the apertures and put the engine under a dust sheet in my garage. Should I drain the oil? Should I pour a little oil into the filler every once in a while and turn the engine by hand? Should I put some oil down the bores?

Any (serious) advice much appreciated :smthumbup
