I just got this model of Shell oil. I still haven;t used it, but plan to change my oil on Tuesday. Has anyone ever used this model of oil in their Evo's? Any experiences? Good, bad, favorable, etc.? ;)

Any comments will be helpful. :)

Many thanks guys! |EQU|)

I think it's 5W/40. Keep the service interval short ( and amp;lt; 3k) as this oil I found, tended to induce lifter noise.

Personally I think 5W-40 is too thin............unless you drive in ICELAND!

The manual says 10W-30, but I use 15W-50 REDLINE (fully synthetic), but the Shell Ultra is an excellent oil too.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Botchi,
Given your climate over there I wouldn't go too thin. If indeed Shell Ultra is 5W-40 then I wouldn't use it (my Jap manual has a warning box for 5W-30 oil). You would be better off with a slightly thicker oil as the others have suggested, 15W-40 would be ideal.

I checked the packaging again and unless I have dyslexia, it is indeed 15W/40 fully synthetic-base oil. :)

I'm having a hard time locating Mobil1 15W/40 or 15W/50 oil. :(

By the way, what's the reason again why you guys said Castrol Magnatec 10W/40 isn't good for our engines? It's readily available here but I've stayed away from it as per the recommendations of some members here. Tried using the search engine in the board, I still can't find a tangible reason why, only debates about it.

Thanks guys! :)
