I see in the for sale threads, that there are some scorpion exhausts for sale, they look quite cheap for a full system. Why are they so cheap ? Are they cr*p ? What are your thoughts, as i need to DE-STRANGLE my '260'

You views would be appreciated :D

i had one on my escort cossi there as the rest realy do the job ..

if i remember right it was quite loud as well

currently running a scorpion cat back system on the TOMMI MAK :D :D

sounds good not to intrusive on full chat :eek: and the throttle response was noticable straight away :D :D

i think they are a good system for wot its worth :p :p ;)

I AM A TOTAL F****NG T*AT..................i had scorpion in my head when i posted this thread, when what i actually wanted your opinions on was the MONGOOSE exhausts that are going cheap on Ebay............. :hammerhea


So sorry for wasting everybodys time, please could i have your views on the MONGOOSE system. :)

hi mate just a word of warning the 260 has a second cat,pre cat in the downpipe so unless you are going to do a remap at the same time leave the existing downpipe inplace the restriction is minimal andtake out the main cat and back box .the back box is the main problem as it actually has a spring loaded door in it that exhaust pressure has to overcome to open.if you take out the downpipe precat you will have cel problems.
there are numerous threads on this in the exhaust section check them out i know this because i've been through it ,also check with scoop as he has done the full decat,remap thing the 260 is a bit different than the ordinary 8's

if you leave the original downpipe with enclosed precat on and just do a main decat ,back pipe and back box the cel light will stay out ,when your ready to remap install anew downpipe.
on another note if you ever go for the big carbon fiber spoiler and want to sell the low wing give me a shout

Just been looking at high level spoilers in the U.S. so i'll let you know, why do you want it, you've got one, and two would be high, but it might look stupid :crackup: ............



On the other topic how different did the car feel when you removed the cat and put the better exhaust on....??

thinking about swapping my silver wing for black dont want to paint the silver wing,seen the black high wing on a silver and it looked tidy think the contrast black on silver with the low wing would look nice with black front splitter and black enkies

car sharper throttle response better and yes it does sound nice
if you only do one mod it has to be the exhaust but for 25/30 quid put a good panel filter in it . hks or like

Ive never had a mongoose on an evo but i did fit a few to other cars over the years.The build quality seems ok but the fitment is really crap.I had to take of the rear towing eyes on a GTO to stop it rattling as the two rear pipes are to close.

I also had a customer come round one day with a GT4 he bought to get the back box cut out and replaced with a straight pipe as he couldnt get it to stop rattling.He prefered this approach as it was almost silent aswell so it woke it up a bit at the same time.

They are quite quiet ;)

I picked up a second hand mongoose for my last evo with sport box in the middle section.
Not intrusive in the cab .but at 6500rpm 110 mph past a a police car not looking in my direction .told me it sounded like a jet ..So very complimentary.
