I currently pedal a DC5 Integra as a toy, and am looking at replacing it with a V or VI in the new year.

RS cars seem few and far between (and pricey), so I wondered what the rough costs are to convert a V, VI or even VIII to a diff setup?

Are parts tricky to get hold of?

TIA :mitsi:

Firstly why would you need/want to convert the V/VI from AYC to mechanical rear diff set up from an RS?

Will cost you a grand or so I expect reading on here.

Personal preference, really. I'm going back about 8 years here, but the VI Extreme I had access to drove much better than it's GSR predecessor.

1k doesn't sound too horrendous, I had tried searching - honest!

The parts are getting harder but I believe the kit normally retails for around 2.5k. Pointless though, if you want a car with less traction fit rubbish tyres. Another option is to fit an after market mechanical diff inside the AYC casing. It'll be a proper effective mechanical diff though so will be noisy.

Adam I believe extreme number 1 was just up for sale on piston heads for 20k, looks like it might have gone, there is a well specc'd 6rs with 46k on the clock for 12k which might be worth considering.
An extreme will likely be out of budget come January to be honest. The one I'd want is the one I've driven before, but as said, probably out of reach. I don't remember the number it was, the reg ended JWP when it was sold.

Pretty sure an RS2 would be just as pricey and a rarity. I don't much care for big horsepower headaches, I'm more looking for involvement.

Noise isn't a problem, anything I buy won't see the road much aside from leisure/fun drives. I'll take to google, thanks.

IF you really want a VI RS suggest you buy one like this:

http://www.svaimports.com/cars/stock/evolution-6-rs/

11.5K fresh import. Not converted, works already and 2K more than the same thing in GSR form. No rust, etc, etc.

Can't see the point in getting a VI GSR and converting.

Being fussy, I would quite like AC and Electric Windows! Those late spring/summer track days get warm. :mhihi:

Fair point ian.
But what if your ayc pump was shot, could be worth it then.
Cheaper service and more reliable maybe?
