HAD MY E6GSR ROLLING ROADED TODAY AT TUNING JAPANESE.
MODS ARE
HKS DOWNPIPE /DECAT/HKS SUPERDRAGGER /HKS IRIDIUM PLUGS
HKS BOV / HKS HARD PIPE INTERCOOLER KIT / HKS INDUCTION POWER FLOW
I GOT THE FOLLOWING RESULTS...
NORM POWER |EQU| 300.5 BHP
ENGINE OUTPUT |EQU| 293.5 BHP
WHEEL OUTPUT |EQU| 207.50 BHP
DRAG OUTPUT |EQU| 86 BHP
MAX POWER @ 106 MPH OR 6840 RPM
MAX TORQUE @ 67MPH OR 4360 RPM 261 LBFT
AIR PRESSURE 988 MBAR
EXHAUST TEMP 1060 DEGREES
OIL TEMP 69 DEGREES
AIR TEMP 19 DEGREES
BOOST SHOWING 1-1.2 BAR

DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?, IS THE EXHAUST TEMP HIGH? / MITSUBISHI TORQUE FIGURE HIGHER THAN MY TEST RESULT, WHY?

ANY HELP APPRECIATED AS ITS ALL JAPANESE TO ME!
THANKS

JR

Figures seem low to me, and that EGT is very high. What fuel are you using, shame you didn't have another Evo there for comparison.

Worth getting some figures from another R/R, if you like I can mail you my sheet and spec from TJ.

Damn, 1060 C!! Where was it measured? In the manifold or turbo elbow?

Your engine should make a little more; like 310 - 320 bhp. Who installed the stuff?

Japracer,

Those figures do sound low to me. My E5 with Superdragger/Decat/Superpowerflow/Induction pipes and set to peak at 1.3 bar, produced the following results at TJ in Oct 2000.

Norm 311
Engine 309.5
Wheel 228.5
Max Power 109mph or 6990
Torque 282
Max torque 66mph or 4250
Exhaust temp 526degC !!!!!!
Air temp 23degC

Your exhaust temp seems very high.:( Hope this helps.

Darryl.

Japracer, seems like im the only one who thinks your power is spot on.

300-310 is right for an evo on 1.2 boost.

You can get 335bhp-340bhp at 1.45 boost, but to do this you need to defeat fuel cut,
to do this you need an ECU swap. IMHO a PE remap will do the job perfectly, depending
on your long term goals and budget.

Now, if money isnt a problem and amp;lt;ROFL and amp;gt; I can supply you a fully built HKS engine (all new parts)
on an exchange basis.

How does this sound, HKS forged pistons, HKS rods,HKS cams and pulleys,HKS gasket,
HKS racing ECU - 390 bhp (engine dyno proven) at 1.7boost on stock turbo !!!!!
All fitted by HKS ! £6,500.

For an extra couple of grand, change to a 2835 turbo and you'll see 440bhp at 2.0boost
and less lag !!!!!!!!! and amp;lt;thanks Neil for the dyno graph !!! and amp;gt;

Oh, and I might add, if your EGT really was 1060, you'll be needing that
exchange engine sooner rather than later....

At 950 degrees you'll normally see det; I used to see 980 degrees on my supra
and that was enough to kill the engine , and I use 104ron racing fuel in my supra.

Hello Tony !

Come to think of it, it does sound like a nice, hassle free deal.

I may just go for this option myself later this year, there are several
turbo options, but the 2835 is just awesome, 440bhp and makes more
power at 3000revs than the stock turbos...now that is amazing.

If you like mate, ill mail you the graphs ??? I promise you'll be impressed !

Best wishes,

Justin

Send them to me too, I am shopping for an engine at the moment; just a question Justin: have you driven the Evo with the 2835? Because my local Jap parts dealer tried out a 5 with a 2835 and said there's not much below 4.000 rpms, but at 4.000 it kicks in much harder. How much power it actually makes at 3.000 might be proven with a dynosheet, but how does it FEEL it the question here!

Japracer, tuning Japanese have taken you through the HKS catalogue, but for you to get the benefit of the parts you have fitted you need to move on to the next state of tune.

What have Tuning Japanese recomended?

I would also add that you would be better of with the HKS Racing suction kit if HKS is the way you want to go.

Regards Barry:)

JP.why can you only get 95octane? You should run on Optimax 98.5 or at least SUL 97.I would not recomend 95 even with octane booster.

also, this is the first time i have rolling roaded.
the print out shows exhaust temperature, it does not say exhaust gas temp. same thing?
you guys have used TJ before havent you?
intrested to know if i am worried about nothing or have reason for concern.

thanks again.

JP - the main reason for the EGT is probably running 95 octane. The only way you should be doing this is with the PE remap to ensure that you do not run lean.

You are more than likely running lean (a major cause for high EGT) and may be experiencing knock too - which could lead to engine damage. Octane booster is not guaranteed to take your 95 to 97 (depending on the octane booster in question) and may have different burn characteristics.

At that level of EGT your pistons are already in danger. 950 deg c is about as high as you would want to see.

It also explains the lack of power given your hardware.

TO run 95 safely get a remap.
