i bought an evo 6 the day b4 yesterday. but it is knocked everywhere. so me and my frinds decided to get together and repair it. currently the mechanical stuff is fixed, the car is currently stripped of lights, doors, windows, hood, spoiler, trunk lid, passenger seats, mirrors, wheels, brake calipers, bumpers, stereo, steering, and almost all of the other stuff. today after fixing the mechanical stuff which we have been working on for 1 and a half days we decided to test it. when i started the car after shifting to a gear and when i take off the car makes a screeching, and a whistling loud noise and turns off. i tried this again and the same thing happened. me and my friends have a lot of car reapiring and tuning experience. so can any 1 of u tell me what is wrong with the car please?

does it run ok in neutral ,rev up etc

it runs okay in neutral, it revs up ok. but in neutral when i accelerate when it reaches the redline the car stops and a 'shhhhhh' noise comes.

come on man help me out in a situation like this. the car was damaged coz of a drag race, it got knocked by a 18 wheeler. and i'm halfway done repairing the car, so help me out.

check the turbo waste gate it sounds like its not letting the exhaust out

todd, already checked it. nuttins worng with it.

sean, no, while it was racing with the other cars and 18 wheeler turned to the track without knowing and crashed the car.

Dont get wot u trying to say, is it a belt screech and wot exactly happens.

Do u put it in gear and try to drive and it cuts out or does it drive a bit and cut out?

But it ticks over ok on tick over??

todd, yes, there was, but we replaced the intake, intercooler and exhaust system wit new parts.

lee, this is what happens, when i start the car up, and i shift the gear and take off it makes a screeching and whistling sound and goes for bout 1/2 km and stops and also if it reaches the red line it stops with and makes a "shhhhhh" sound.

let go the exhaust below the downpipe and see if it revs out still sounds like an exhaust build up hence thehissing and screeching

Sounds like alternator belt to me.

todd, well unfortunately nuttins wrong with the exhaust system. i replaced it completely with a new one befor i knew bout this prob.

cryptwalk, no, not the alternator belt, i checked it, it is in mint condition.
