I got the car with Ecutek, Walbro, 3" Mongoose (original elbow), HKS EVC V.

I've remapped it with ECUflash, changed the airbox lid and fitted an AVC-R. It now performs far better. The induction noise is a little louder, but the HKS panel filter (from the dealer) makes more difference than the airbox lid mod to noise.

I started to get fed up with the noise, so for now I have the HKS catback on the car.

John how bad was the noise on the Mongoose? I've got a IX GSR and I'm about to start doing some mods but the exhaust is a tough choice as its a daily driver and I don't want it loud!

It doesn't sound that bad then, sounds like you want it a little bit quieter than me. I had a mongoose on my old escort cossie and I liked that, it would get on your nerves on a long motorway journey though...
