I want more weight and a bit more feel in my E6 GSR steering (have a 205 GTI as a spare car and I lurve the steering on the Pug - bags of feedback and very meaty as unassisted) http://www.ltregister.force9.co.uk/graphics/Happy.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle >

Does anyone know whether the quicker rack from the RSX could be fitted and whether it would cost the earth? Or is there another way to do this?

Steve.

A steering with more feedback, ok; but a quicker rack ? buy a go-kart

The RSX uses (funnily enough) the RS rack which is 2.2 turns lock to lock compared to 2.6 on the GSR. You can fit the RS rack to the GSR but is it worth it? Go and try an RS, RSX or RS Sprint is all I can think of and if you like you will know. As for the price try Coordsport...hang on...think of a reasonable figure and double it and you won't be far off

Try a smaller diameter steering wheel. It will be slightly heavier to turn and it will feel quicker to respond even though its still the same number of turns lock to lock. And be cheaper.

Don't use one the size of a Dairy Lee packet though

Good idea Tony

It worked wonders of my MG, mind you the original wheel was big enough for the passenger to help steer if they wanted to.

I didn't know the GSR had 2.6 turns lock to lock. I have an RS2 with the 2.2 turns rack (that explains the go-kart joke), and I can tell you the rack is fabulous. You drive the car with the wrists, and you never need more than a couple of degrees of opposite lock.
I do not know the cost for you to change it, but I give my thumbs up for the 2.2 turns rack
