OK, set of 18 going on my E4 soon courtesy of MrEvolution (well cash really),

2 existing tyres are 215/40/18. I've found some Proxies for sale 215/35/18 £92 delivered but would I be a fool for using different profile front and rear ????

Spose they could go on either side and get a bit of added camber round corners 1 way..... NAH!

Let me know Gurus, do I need to buy the same for now ?????

good idea but do u have the wheels for the 215/35 then it should be ok.

Don't fit tyres of unequal sizes on a 4 wheel drive car as your centre diff won't like you! There is a 21mm difference in diameter between the two sizes you quote. In fact if you have a GSR you may even get an error up.

Don't skimp on tyres, people spend thousands modding their cars and then stick on any old tyre. The tyres are the cars only contact with the road and are the MOST important component. Either fit 2 tyres the same size as the originals or get 4 new ones, your car will thank you. ;)

is it right that if you have unequal sizes the the AYC computer gives it gip?
G
Simple answer is yep! I don't know the exact tolerances but it works out the average wheel speed for 4 wheels when the steering wheel is in a straight ahead position and if one wheel spikes above or below that by a set amount it will throw up an error (error code 25 for you tech goons, doesn't display the AYC light though).

Nice one guys, had thoughts of the diff having a moan and let's face it, the thing moans enough as it is now with equal tyres on (no matter how many times it's cared for !)

Had no idea there was that much difference in diameter, that's loads ! May stick with 40 profile.

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html is a handy quick way of working out tyre sizes.
