Hi all, my car has been misfiring for 6 weeks now, its in at my local tuners but its proving to be a real pig to sort out. Im trying to rule out what things i can, so maybe you can help. Can knock sensors give false readings??? Has anyone ever had one retard the timing, changed it which solved the problem. If the knock sensor was retarding the timing to stop the engine damaging itself, would the engine light be on??
Im really struggling with this problem, your views and opinions could lead me in the right direction, thanks in advance

yes you can, the injectors want to come out, and be checked under pressure, and cleaned out, its surprising the crap that gets through. :) :) :)

How do you reccomend cleaning the injectors? Would an airline damage them?

take them to a fuel injection specialist, they will test the spray pattern as well, wouldnt do it with a air line, you might damage them. :) :) :)

Good news

Hi all, thankfully Lee and the boys at Rampage have sorted the problem. It was as W Marshall suspected, (thank you mate i owe you one). Injectors were blocked badly, causing it to run lean, which in turn caused the ECU to retard the timing. New fuel filter and secondhand injectors, and bingo, nightmare over. Thanks for all the help. ;)

Thank you

W Marshall, you sure did save me money mate, but more importantly, my car is running brilliantly, she feels really strong and pulls better than i can remember. Must also say thank you to Rampage, the car was there two weeks. They changed lash adjusters, 100 for the parts, 100 to fit. Changed fuel filter, changed injectors, (sales manager gave me his old ones from his E5), fitted them, cleaned fuel lines etc, drained tank to be safe. All that work and they only charged me 430.00 inc vat. I was shocked to say the least, i was expecting it to be twice that. They have worked on my car a few times now and the results have always been great. Very profesional and knowledgable people, i wont be taking my car anywhere else.
Once again thank you Mr Marshall.
