I have the separate alloy bell discs that are made from the project µ european dealer in Italy, called CTF and project µ mevius brake pads, with goodrige brake hoses.
I had the standard ones changed at 40000km,and I warp them only when they were 38000km using them really hard with pagid brake pads. The pagid brake pads have a real good braking power even when the brakes are red.
The CTF brake discs did not warp at all for the moment, they became red a few times, but I didn't use these discs on the track, just on fast road.
Now are you looking for these or for the Japanese project µ discs?
Anyway I think that any disc of this kind if It's a good quality disc, will be better than the one piece brake discs, and the dragon,CTF or project µ should have about the same quality.
If you want even better braking power and hard to warp braking discs, you have to go for bigger ones,as the ap 6 pot kit fitted by br developments with 360mm brake discs.
But you can warp anything!
The good thing with separate alloy bell discs is that you can change only the disc.
as I just warped my discs again on the Ring I'm considering this project u discs. Do you have any website where I could get some info about them? What's the price of those discs? Maybe those together with the cut down Mintex could survive a bit longer. In 8000km already warped the discs twice!
You can see some pictures of the discs fitted on my evo at communities.msn.com/EvolutionV
The price is around £500 for the two front discs and you can have the alloy bell in the colour you want, usally it's blue I think but I ask for it in red.
You can have them drilled and grooved or just grooved.
Claudius just order the ctf discs but maybe he will sell them as he doesn't know yet if he's going to fit 6 pot ap racing brake kit.
If you can be interested try to send him an email [email protected] as usally you have to wait a few weeks to get them.
I just found the website of CTF, http://www.rallylink.it/ctf/. As I barely understand Italian it's difficult to find out but can you check if they really offer a 25% discount at the moment? If that's true I'll order them immediately!
They are saying that they will give 25% discount for the launch period if you buy them from the market link internet website, but I don't know if it's a real thing as the website should be quiet old and it never gets updated.
I tryed to send them an email once and I had no reply.
You can always try to contact them to ask for the price.
I bought them from a tyre shop in Italy,in Ventimiglia that I know very well, but they don't speak english at all.
I mailed CTF and got immediately a response. I used your EVO pic where you can see the discs and just ordered them. They offered my a very competitive price so I couldn't resist. As my next track day is waiting I'm eager to test them in combination with the cut down Mintex pads and removed dust shields.
Thanks a lot for your help. It's great to know that in the EVO community we help each other.
Currently I try to get some good prices for HKS stuff from Digit-Power. If they offer good deals I'll let you know, maybe you still fancy the extension kit!
I never tried to buy an AP 6 pot brake system, I just asked for the price.
I am looking for an 8 pot water cooled caliper system now, available in ds 3000 as you said. I will put this in the Wanted section. Have you heard from Serecchia about my CTF discs?? I might sell those on if I can get the 8 pot within a reasonable time.
Save your money mate, why don't you get a decent ICE system instead?
I have heard from a reliable overseas source that Ralliart are bring out some super 'lightweight' amps and subs that you may like.
There's company here that supplies lightweight head units and amps. The chassis is made from carbon fibre rather than the usual steel construction of normal ICE!.
I also had those water cooled calipers, But the Lacquer lasted notime on my wheels due to the dogs acidic P!ss!!http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >, Also i've gone through alot of dogs as i couldn't find a secure way to attach them to the wings!.[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
How did you strap those dogs to the front wings? I think you will find string or rope is no good. I have tried bungee cord before but they just fly forwards at 90mph whenever I anchor up, they do come back though but eventually leave a nasty dent. Any more ideas?
Boah, what's wrong with you guys? Are you on drugs or something? http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
Meet you on the track, I will brake for so short you wont even see the stop lights go on and off! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
Plus even with the real AP brakes and Öhlins my car will not be close to as expensive as any slow German car (they dont built fast ones for under GBP 100,000 anyway). ANd that still leaves money for an ECU (and some Hi-Fi installation [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >). I have a few hundred watts in my car, so what? keeps the annoying tire noise away from my ears...
Nice one Colinhttp://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >!
I think that Claudius is right about the good performance of the 8pot ap calipers and the ohlins,But don't worry, you will all have a 1000bhp skyline before he's going to get them fitted[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >!
Don't forget that he has to wake up in a good day, take his break fast, getting dressed,
take a shower, turn on the tv ,then it will be 12 and everything is going to be closed until 2pm, so he will go to the restaurant for lunch, then he will go at the beach to drink his coffee, relaxing a few hours, but then he have to go to wash his mum bmw 328, bring it back, and then it's already 6:30pm, it's too late to pick up the phone, it's better to do that tomorrow.
So he will get changed and he will go to the restaurant, not with the evo, it's better to take the 328!!! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
It's true that you wouldn't see his brake lights as he wouldn't need to use the brakes with
a standard tommi makinen edition!
Project u discs were fitted to an E5 owned by an acquiantance of mine who also owned the shop that did my engine rebuild. Rode in it, the brakes seemed noisier than normal. He says they are really marginally noisier, but he is using a different set of pads with them.
Here, it costs about 800 Pounds in your money (the shop he owned was quite expensive to buy stuff) but according to him they were well worth the price he paid for. http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
His discs are finished in carbon black with the anodized purple rotor hat. Quite funky, especially when mixed with the red calipers of Brembo. [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
