Hello all, my 9 is playing up after receiving a jump start. the battery was run flat while the car was being washed. after the car was jump started, it would appear the alternator has been unable to charge the battery.

I've had the multimeter accross the battery, reading ~12v with engine off and 11.8v with the engine running. from what i have read, this indicates to an alternator failure unless anyone knows any differently. i have pulled the fuse and all seems to be ok.

another problem that has arisen after the jump start is my remote central locking has stopped working. cobra alarm fitted. when i press the lock button, only the drivers door locks - the rest stay open. it is the same when opening through the barrel door locks, only the one door opens. when sat inside the car, i am able to lock all doors by use of the internal drivers door lock.

any information would be very greatly received. im new to the forum and also a first time evo owner in the last week.

Sounds like it might have been reverse jump started. You say 'pulled the fuse' - which fuse do you mean? The fuse that is most at risk is the big fat 100 Amp one that is the alternator fuse. It all points in the direction of having the leads put on the wrong way round even for a moment.

Yeah, cheers boys. It was the 100A fuse onthe live feed to the battery. thats fixed the charging problem. But the central locking is still giving problems. only the drivers door is locking by remote/key. is there possibly some fuses located on the cobra alarm unit that is located in the ...........?

cheers
