you know when you think something is wrong but you are not quite sure if its right or not?

well my E6 seems to be producing lag in funny places! if i cruise at 40mph in 4th then accelerate hard the power seems to back off slightly at 3500 then surge forward at 4000 then back off slightly at 4500 then pick up and accelerate smoothly. not really violently but deffinately noticeable..I think. also whilst backing of slightly in 5th gear at 80mph tonight the car had what seemed like fuel cut? couldn't replicate it since so could have been me and the forge bov messing about. appart from this this car is completely standard.

is this how the car is supposed to produce its curve or is it me. its not really noticeable in 1-3rd gears accelerating hard as the revs stay above the problem area.

i only run on optimax! would an ecu reset help?

check your wastegate? it could be leaking. have you got a boost gauge?

at the end of the day there is only 3 things that control the boost on your car. the 2 port solenoid and the pipes from it including restrictors etc.. and the wastegate and hte ecu.

so either the solenoid is dirty with some oily deposits from your intake; take the pipes off and flush them with some carp cleaner. flush the soleniod as well.

the wastegate; which is a mechanical item, that could also fail, and start leaking as hte spring becomes weak or corroded.

i could be talking alot of rubbish and you could be just imagining it :D

ecu; nothing should have changed at that end.

obviously the the size of hte exhuast, air fliter etc.. all matter but you have not changed any of these lately have you?

no, all standard and only 8000miles covered.

did have grommet out for abit but its back in now

might try removing it to see if this cures the prob. then it will be something along those lines?

Not that I am an expert, but I am sure I had the same problem in my 6 (and my 7 come to think of it) - the diagnosis was the wastegate not operating correctly. That may be your problem.

Rob,
It'll need a new wastegate actuator and I got mine done under warranty so it shouldn't be a problem.

The actuator is the big gold shiny round thing that you will see when you look down behind the radiator towards the turbo.
