all those listed have 1g 6-bolt crank engines
heads are different, blocks are same but internals are different
as are fuel injection, turbo size etc

when ordering anything from e.g. the US where it's generally cheaper for 'performance' items, look for 2g
as the bottom end everything except the 2g 7-bolt crank
e.g. forged pistons/rods
and for top end e.g. valves, cams, turbos, other items
are interchangeable between the 1g & 2g

whilst on that subject what models are compatible with the evo 4?
apart from the obvious evo 7-8
afaik, there are no DSM cars that are directly compatible with the e4, only Mitsis are.... i.e. e5 to e8
2g cranks are interchangeable but you're really better off with generic items e.g. forged pistons/rods/turbos etc

so pistons rods would fit but the crank would not , would the gaskets fit ie head rocker box ect. when u say 7 bolt crank do u mean bearings;
yes...however you can convert a 7-bolt to 6-bolt as it's stronger and there's less likelihood of crankwalk
but not worth the hassle....IMHO

number of bolts = attachment to bottom / crank pulley

1g = DSM, vr4 etc gaskets are slightly different
e1-3 = 2g gaskets
