Now that I have got your attention, did any of you see the documentary on BBC2 last night about Asians from England.

I thought it was brilliant. :D

Highlighting the fact that people brand Asians as "Paki`s" whether they are actually from Pakistan or not,India,Kenya and the like didnt even come into it.
Now i can say that i fell into that category ,not because i am a racist but because i was ignorant.
Please accept my apologies .

There was a chap on there that owns a clothing shop called Star Cresent in Peterborough and is marketing a range of clothing labelled PAK1.
I would like to track this chaps phone number down and buy some of his clothing, not to prove i am not racist but to help him to open peoples eyes and reclaim the word which is not actually an offensive word when used in the correct way.

Unless you are a racist that is.

paki mate is a racist term i hate it when baddies use it as a derogatary term but my mates can call me that anytime

like the other guy said, if people hear u calling yourself a ******, paki or a wog, others start a trend to hurt u emotionally

its not nice for kids to get called that bud, alot of painful memories when i was small i wanted to slaughter the whites as punishent of calling my mum and me that and spitting on us

so that way i hate the word, but im a proud scots paki :D and my mates call me that all the time in scotland its cool coz i call them onion peels or honky bastards or proddie bastards

programme was very good atta yacub is awesome i saw his film ae fond kiss

Reclaiming the word may evoke a spot of bother from your muppets ,you know like the national backwards or the bhp but if it makes a lot of people happy to have that word back then i can see no harm in it. :D

didnt watch the doc, but i cant relate to some of the statements made here, example, ******, or Nips, commonly used, often offensive, but more so used by people who have absolutely no idea. They dont know the origins of the terms and often refer to the wrong type of asian people.

If someone called me a Paki, i wouldnt look for trouble, but I would do something serious to who ever said it!
Trust me!!!! :ninja:

When I was younger I used to get bullied cos Im asian, and i used to walk away, but when someone says it in front of your family (no matter how many of them there are) Its a different story. Things have changed!!!! :flame:

A lot of people I know and people that know me, wouldnt call me one, cos they grew up with me and know that i wouldnt take it. As a joke or not! :goingmad:

But to all you racist people out there, u should never judge a book by its cover! :type:

I think that person who made that Pak1 designer label is a knob and deserves to be bankrupt for promoting racist terms!!

It make me sick to know that sometimes you arent accepted and people treat you differently just because your parents were born in another country!!??? :frust: :frust: :frust:

Im English, Born and raised in Essex n have only been to my home land three times in 24 years.

But people get painted with the same brush, dont matter where you come from or what cultures you have. They just call you a Paki.... Which is just short for Pakistani!!! :rucrazy:

But it is the way in which they say it!
I feel sorry for our parents who had to put up with it on a daily basis, for us it not that bad!

Later :ninja:

I think Mr Rahim is not trying to promote a racist term because as mentioned the word "paki" when used properly in its correct manner means "pure" and he is trying to create awaresness of that.

Maybe Asians will grasp it but i fear that millions of whites, myself not included, would wonder why an asian had that word emblazoned on his/her chest??

Essex is my homeland mate, the hub of the universe

If it makes people aware that the person is proud to be <insert any derogatory term here> then it will get the message across.

If I walked around wearing a shirt that said "ghora" or "******" on it, I reckon people would get the message after a while. The message being "calling me a ****** will not annoy me at all, I'm proud to be a ******" :)

Of course if I did that I would probably be breaking a few racism laws and would possibly get fined / locked up for it. But the point stands for derogatory terms used against non-whites just as well

what do you mean - i thought this was the Muslim Lancer Register???

yeah - im not a strict muslim - i'm half pakistani and was not bought up that religously. My brother is very religious though - regularly goes on pilgramages, has no interest on his bank accounts etc etc. He even renewed my dads faith.

I still faced the same racism at school though till about the age of 13 or 14. It was not overly bad but it was there all the same
