After Cadwell, and a few comments, it was clear there was something not right about the car. Apart from power related problems, the suspension also seemed very problematic, skittish even.
I was at Oulton Park today with Russell Clark. We spent the whole morning fiddling with the suspension, and boy what a revelation! Turns out the car had been riding the bump stops, and the lack of ride height was the cause of all my problems. We lifted the rear 1.5 inches, and the front 1 inch - and played with the adjustable roll bars and bump/rebound rates - and the car is fantastic, and I had a real hoot around Oulton. Will post some video in a few days, when I get back from Lapland (off to the ice hotel before it melts!)
Thanks to Mellow who popped by to say hi, and acted as track side spotter for us looking at how the car was behaving. Sorry you had to go early mate - we really got it sorted, and I finally got to grips with what is one fantastic track. Best lap time I was told was 2mins dead, though I haven't checked the video yet. Russell was lapping at least 5 seconds quicker than that! Great day with Bookatrack, and fantastic weather. Feels like a totally different car. Managed to also track down the shuddering/juddering problem to be the boost controller not having been setup properly for the new turbo. I adjusted that and it is far better. Shall be sorting the GEMS out tomorrow, and looking forward to an even more complete car for Castle Combe.
