Ok getting two new gauges for the car, boost for obvious reasons but then either oil temp or oil pressure. Now i would have thought pressure would have been the way to go as you can get an indication of oil temp (although not ideal) from your std temp gauge. But other people I speak to say different, so what do you reckon

Matt why not go for the SPA ones?

2 readouts on the ones I am just getting 1 with boost / inlet temp and the other with oil temp / pressure.

On my old oil temp gauge it didnt even start to register for at least 5 miles even though the water temp was at normal temp so I would say dont trust your theory about if the water is warm the oil will be. :)

Best thing to do it click here and this may help you out :smthumbup

However, you could always get both in one gauge like the Spa unit here , 2 birds 1 stone & mr evo400 deals with these units :coolsm:

However, if you really are just going for 1 gauge, I'd go for the oil temp, more important as it's very rare you'd lose pressure apart from a major problem.

There you go, I'm as helpful as ever ;) :D

Leonard,
I am also going for the Defi's
I also had the same dilema and have already changed my order once!
In the end I went for Boost and Oil Temp, mainly to ensure that my oil temp is at the correct level before flooring it. :D
Temp is usefull for track days as you will see an increase, but on the road it should stay reasonably constant.
I might add oil pressure at a later date, but I didn't fancy three pods on the A-pillar. (How are you mounting yours?).

As stated by G11DOM, I wouldn't use water temp as an indicator of oil temp.

Cheers,
Paul

 Not at all. When you get your oil temp gauge fitted and see how long it takes for the water temp to get up to speed (about 1 mile) and how long it takes for the oil temp to get up to temp for safe spanking (5 miles) you'll see how important the gauge is.

No much point in an oil pressure gauge as if you have oil pressure problems you'll know cos your car will be broke :) Oil temp lets you know when it is safe to start using it.

Ok cheers Dom and Paul for blowing my water temp theory out the window :D

And thanks Jeff get the feeling you only had 2 weetabix this morning :p

Ok will place order for Boost and Oil temp :)

Phil I ideally wanted 3 gauges on the A-pillar but i simply cannot find anybody that sells a 3 pod one for the Evo, so I guess that says something. So getting a greddy 2 pod a-pillar mount instead now. Seems a bit of a waste to have the Defi controller and only two gauges though, especially as I can play my boost back through the Blitz boost controller anyway. Cant imagine the oil temp playback is much fun to watch  But its a case of where to put more than two gauges in the VI without chopping up the dash or hiding them out the way

edited to add cheers Aidy as well, especially for not taking the **** :D
