I have been trawling ebay and autotrader looking for a cheap track car to abuse and stumbled accross this which made me laugh.

It is advertised as an RS turbo S1.

"

AND NOW THE BEST BIT.......... WITH ALL THE GOODIES OF A GREAT S1 THERE IS MORE! IT HAS BEEN AT SOME POINT RESHELLED INTO A XR3I, AND OF COURSE IS REGISTARD AS SUCH! SO YOU GET A S1 BUT WITH XR3I INSURANCE!!! HOW SWEET IS THAT! IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LET THE DVLA KNOW YOU HAVE A TURBO LUMP IN THERE IT IS UP TO YOU?

"

Now doesnt that make it and xr3i with an rs turbo lump in it!!

might be better to go for a standard one as it'd be easier to source parts as they go wrong. The mi16 probably has a few bespoke parts which may hinder service/repair.
Never thought of that!!

Best be buying another evo then and hopefully i wont break it this time

a guy i know had a 205 mi16 cti (soft top) with the 1600 gearbox.

there was no way it would go from a stop start, if you floored it you would just sit there with the tyres smoking. from a rolling start though it was bloody quick.

the only problem he had was the box didnt seem to sit right and he kept blowing them up. gears were also sometimes tough to find. apart from that it was good.

that 1 on ebay looks quite nice.

just make sure the rear wheels arent sitting tucked in at the back

in stead of sitting like- l___l

they sit like- /___\

this means a knackered rear torsion beam which will need replaced.

Ahh i see what you mean, does this seem ok??????

""Q: (1) Is the rear end torsion bar suspension the original unit or has it been replaced/modified? Is it still functional or has it seized? (2) Has the car been dyno tested (if so, what was the result)? (3) How many miles have been covered since the conversion? Cheers, paj77

A: (1)The rear suspension is functional and not seized, there is no sign of excessive camber that would indicate a knackered rear beam, it passed an MoT and the previous owner said that it was rebuilt when the Koni suspension was fitted...but I have no proof of this. (2) No - standard engine = standard BHP = fast as f**k (3) Approx 1000 miles and rising (rapidly!!!) ""

yes that seems ok. you can notice it if you look from the back of the car usually 1 side is sitting further in than the other.

happy hunting :D
