Hey guys i just came to UK last week. i just fell in love with the evos. i'm thinking about getting an evo7. anyways my question is how reliable is the evos? i used to drive a 89 integra back in the states. so reliability is a very important factor. back in the states mitsubishi's arn't not known as the reliability car maker. just want to make sure before droping 25k on a car. thanks everybody for the responds.

I have had many problems with an evo 6 but this was down to bad servicing i think! The car i bought from Warrender needed £3000 worth of work!! The car has now been replaced (7days ago) and i have now found the front discs are warped!!I am worried my self about reliabilty of these cars because i cant afford to put new discs or a gearbox on it every five minutes!!

Good luck

evo777,

Loads of people r utterly delighted with Evo's , some people r not and have had some problems.
Just about the same as other cars then.

I think that the latest hondas as the s2000 or integra type r are really reliable, more than other brands.

If you go for a new evo you should not expect reliability problems, and in uk you also have a warranty!
But don't forget that an evo is the street version of a rally car and it's already really fast for a standard car, so you can have some parts to change sometimes, for example the clutch does not last very long, but that doesn't mean that it's not reliable, it just need some servicing and you have to use good quality oil(castrol rs 10w60).

Just picking up on what Maxi said, my Evo3 has done 63,000km and still on factory clutch. From my old ZR4 I was going through clutches every 30,000 -35,000km. The front brake discs got eaten away quick on factory pads though, really needing to be replaced at the first brake pad change.

evo777,
I assume you are thinking of importing an E7 into the USA?
As far as I know (going from what people have said on here before) it cannot be done? (well not unless you pass all the emmissions and provide a car for crash testing?)

I know Mitsubishi were planning to sell the E7 officially in the states but it will be a detuned version to comply with emmissions and I don't know when its coming out.

Top priority for you is check out whether it is possible to import an E7 permanently to the USA.

There shouldnt be any serious reliability problems with a standard car. The only thing with a standard Evo is that (apart from it feeling slow) the tires suck.
It says in your profile you live in the UK. So I guess you can just contact Ralliart and get an EVo with a warrantee, if something breaks they pay for it.

Sorry I misread your question, I thought you lived in the US and had just come over for a visit.

Welcome to Blightly!

I hate to say this but Claudius is right http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
(Just have to get him to stop slagging off M3's and Porkers at every opportunity and he will almost be sane [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >)
The best bet for you (and anyone really) is to get a car from Ralliart. Not because their cars are any better than grey imports but simply because the warranty is so much better than the crap you seem to get with imports. That is the only reason I can think of so if you are not worried about a warranty then go somewhere cheaper.

Get a BNEW Evo, love it like your own girlfriend/wife, and every drive around b-roads will be orgasmic!!! http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

I got a 2nd-hand car, an E4, and with it lots of problems. It's a good thing costs were quite manageable. Everything is more or less fixed now, and plan to start upgrading it soon with your basic bolt-on stuff like exhaust / downpipe, suspension bits etc. Nothing major like Claudius though!!! Just don't abuse the car. [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

Enjoy your new machine, run it in properly and you won't sleep for many other night because you're driving it all the time.

Cheers

Mike
