Naunt...
My car is booked in to have the Ralliart ECU, boost valve controller and ARP bolts done at the end of this week. I have been told that the car will be running 1.5 bar of boost after the upgrade. - Here come the questions.......
1. When you said that you were running 1.3 bar and 340bhp, what other mods are you running?
A. Full HKS induction and Exhaust
2. Also how do you change the level of boost once this kit has been installed?
A. You Don't !!!. If you want it changed then Ralliart have to do it.
3. When you say you run 1.3 bar, do you mean it peaks higher and then settles at 1.3? - I need to know this as my boost gauge only reads 1.5 bar max and I don't want to bend the needle http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
A. You are correct. I am currently running at 1.25 - 1.3 Sustained and I peak (for about 0.5 second) to 1.5. I would recommend that you change your gauge.
4. My last question is regarding the set up. Should I expect Ralliart to use a rolling road to set this stuff up as I don't think it is included (please correct me)
A. Ralliart normally do their proving on normal roads. They probably can use a rolling road, if you request it, but at additional cost. They also use Bruntingthorpe to test the cars. They charged me GBP 200 last time they tested and set up my car there.
Some general comments.....
I am not going too much in depth as it will take too long.
Firstly, when dealing with Ralliart make sure of the following
i) You know exactly what you want
ii) Ralliart understand what you are after.
iii) MOST IMPORTANTLY... you both understand the same thing.
The definition of words can cause confusion. what is overboost, what is peak and what is sustained.
My car is currently set for 1.5 bar (This is what I requested from Toney) what this means is that my car now peaks to 1.5 and then reduces to a sustained 1.25 - 1.3 bar. [I actually wanted a sustained 1.5, but never mind !!!]
If this is what you want then fine, however is you want a sustained 1.5 then DO NOT GO FOR THE RALLIART SPORTS ECU. I have just had to have a new Turbo fitted { I opted for the titanium insert} and with fitting this has cost approx GBP 2500. the reason for this is that I melted the old one, along with the lambda sensor. The reason for this is that I was running too lean at high revs. The sports ecu cannot cope (fuelling wise) with a sustained boost over 1.3 bar. Ralliart are currently looking into 'add on controllers' to get my fuelling correct for the higher boost (I have also got GpA internal in my engine to take the loading).

to summarise.... if you will only ever want 1.3 bar then the sports ecu is a nice easy option. If you are ever going to want more then go for an ecu replacement that is fully programmable like a MoTeC or Gems.
