Does anyone know facts about the condition of the Evo 7 in the video? Who owns it, and how is it maintained? My guess is that brake pads and tires were old.

I have watched plenty of original Best Motoring Videos, to ascertain that Evo does not neither loose brakes, nor lack grip if on equal tire: Evo runs 235 and Yaris 225, standard. The grip should be similar and Evo brakes should last many laps without total fade- if service. I've driven my own car on track on totally stock brake system, and yes they get mushy in 20 minute session, but not after 3-4 laps.

Thanks

Steven Peel:),

Peeler, you have owned and have driven beautiful sprint sorted competitive Evos.
Have you driven the Yaris GR
I ask, because based on observations I made indirectly, Yaris GR handless well, but not better than Evo. Old brake pads, old brake fluid, old tires, easily affect significantly handling: we all know how sticky tires heat-cycle and age out!!!

And the engine, Yaris is 3-cylinder and cannot benefit from Twin Scroll, it's spool and engine torque are not as good as Evo. A properly maintained Evo 7 should exceed acceleration capability of Yaris- 1/4 mile trap speed for Yaris are only 104mph, Evo should trap at 108+mph, demonstrating additional performance of OEM setup.

Thank you, this is a question, and I stand to be corrected.

Hi Bud

hope you’re well

yes I have driven a GR on track and sprinted one and I was very impressed, it managed 3rd overall out of 80 cars on the 3 day hill climb albeit some cars were old, I was beat by a Evo though 🤣🤣 but it did have 650bhp

what will be interesting is I’m in the middle of tuning mine and fitting Ohlins so I will do my hillclimb and have times to compare from my 6TME RS sprint car and old 5 RS 👍🏼
